Had my knee scoped this morning to repair some torn cartilage under the knee cap. The good news: surgery went extremely well and a full recovery is expected. The bad news: it will likely be 2 weeks before I can fly (with an instructor as a safety pilot) and 6 weeks before I can solo again.

I spoke to my AME and he said that as long as the surgeon had released me to fly, and I was off any prohibited medications, that I am cleared to fly... All of this assumes I feel comfortable doing so.

My goal is to use the down time to finish studying for my instrument written... Hopefully you guys can keep me entertained. If anybody has been waiting to post some awesome in flight videos, please do so now. :-)

Good time to review the AOPA website regarding your situation and medications.

Some meds may require that you have been off them for a certain period of time. Better to know in advance.

Best regards,

Thanks guys. I'm a pretty young / healthy guy, but just wanted to make sure I wouldn't need new medical after the procedure.

Fortunately, the pain is very minimal and I'll be off the meds in ~48 hours, but the point is very well taken.

Congratulations on the successful surgery.

The videos that originate closest to equator are the best Mooney therapy available.

Good luck,

I will do my best... however no videos until I am back home next week...
