New Mooney Ambassador events- This really great!!

There is a lot of very positive reaction from the recent AVWeb article and Podcast.  The program has gained several new Mooney flyers, and Mooney lovers that are expressing their desire to become involved.  That's the goal of this whole idea.  Get engaged by using our airplanes to help educate folks about GA.

There are 2 new events since the AVWeb anouncement.  Elko, Nevada airport day and Wings Over Marin, Novato, CA.  WOW, this a great!  Please see the Google Maps link on MooneyAmbassadors.com to see the upcoming events and to read about them as well.

Jolie, thanks for your effort to promote our airplanes through the ambassador project and the podcast. As a Canadian owner of my second Mooney I am most interested in having a Canadian Chapter  if it does not already exist. I am located on beuatiful Vancouver Island in BC. The world is watching BC right now as the winter Olympics are in full swing. My airport at Qualicum Beach has fly ins and airport days which could beused to promote GA and of course the Mooney.

If there is anyone else in BC who is interested in forming a BC chapter or even a Western Canada chapter lets talk!Thanks everyone who frequents Mooneyspace for giving me an opportunity to enrich my Mooney experience.

We do have several folks from Canada who are Ambassadors, and we have just sent them an email to try to get you all connected.  There are not any Chapters per se, rather individuals pick an event they would like to go to and use the Ambassadors website to submit an event.

Hello All

The Ambassadors had a wonderful time at Minter Field in Shafter California last Saturday.  We had nine big Mooneys and one Mooney Mite.  It was a lovely warm day, and Mooney Row was hopping!  As usual we were the largest display of any one type of airplane, and it was a great opportunity to get folks in the airplanes, and/or to tell them about Mooney Airplane Company.  Our youngest bird was Austin Kalb's Ovation and our oldest was the Mooney Mite flown by Ambassador Ed Mandibles. We got to meet Quinn Walton who is the proud new owner of a 1965 C Mooney. Quinn is 20 years old, and flew up with his Dad Vic.  We also got to meet Chris who is looking for an E model.  He found out about the event through this board.   Also new was Franck Ilmain who has a 77 J model he flies out of Livermore, CA.
The video is being finished for our fun day, that is when I am not doing something like protesting the closure of an airport, flying, or learning how to park a zillion airplanes on a small field [L52].

Next up for us is May 8th Oceano Airport Celebration Day: Mooney Ambassadors will be on display at this home-town fly-in.  Grab your flip flops and come to Pismo Beach for Mother's Day weekend!  The Celebration Day is Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. There will be static displays, ramp displays, children's activities, food and music.  Come support lovely Oceano, and help us relay to the community the value of General Aviation, and GA Airports.

Paine GA Day: GA Day Paine Field in Everett, WA, May 15th, 2010 sponsored by the Washington Pilot's Association Paine Field Chapter.  The event involves many volunteer organizations including the local Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanas Club, Civil Air Patrol and Community Colleges.  Last years event had the benefit of a sunny day boosting attendance to 4500, roughly double the previous years.  The day starts with benefit pancake breakfast sponsored by the fire department benefiting the Northwest Burn Foundation.  The EAA sponsors their Young Eagles program and last year provided over 200 rides for kids.  The Cascade Warbirds bring out their collection and new for last year, Paul Allen's "Flying Heritage Collection" did some selected flybys.  There's an old B-52 on display and they're constantly badgering the hanger tenants to bring their planes out for static display.  Informational booths include Angel Flight and the Community College's A&P school.
As you may know,  Paine Field is home of the Boeing Factory where the 747, 767, 777 and now 787 have been manufactured starting in 1969.   Point person: Fred Juhos

It looks like the Wings Over Marin event mentioned in an above post is not on the Ambassador website. Do you know if it's still on, but just no longer an Ambassador event? We were hoping to have a neat fly-in to attend this weekend after having to miss the Oceano event. I did see the Paine event listed, but that's a bit farther than we were looking to go.

Hi Michael, the event at Marin was cancelled by the organizers some time ago. I thought I got an email out to everyone, I am sorry if I missed you.  I am not sure if it will be re-scheduled.  We missed you at L52. We had 10 Mooneys and about 120+ airplanes.  It still had a down-home feeling even with 350+ people.  Mark you calendar for next year!  Right on the schedule:  Paine, WA,  St Paul Alberta,Canada, then Porterville and Columbia [California].

Come and enjoy airport day at St. Paul, AB Canada.  Ambassador Russ Anderson will host this fun event, our first in Canada.  St. Paul build a landing pad for UFO's as a tourist attraction, and even boasts a UFO!

We will be doing our Mooney Ambassador display to the public. There will be airshow acrobatics, fly-bys, static displays, etc.
We can arrive early in the week and camp out. There are shower facilities available at the airport. In order to insure us being in the same display area we should try and get as many of us as possible to fly in at the same time. Friday evening, June 11th will be a fun evening at The TuleAero hanger with much going on. The basic theme for this year's event is Porterville Salutes the 1950s. If possible, maybe we can come in at least by Friday for the fun. For the airshow, fly-in folks get in free. Point Person: Mitch Latting

Columbia, CA Father's Day Fly- In June 19 - 20, 2010. Mooney Ambassadors will display. This a such a fun event for aviation. Camping at the "airplanes only" campground. Walk into the historic town of Columbia. Well attended by the public. A wonderful opportunity to talk up Mooney and General Aviation. We will have two airplanes in the display area.

Colorado Sport International Air Show and Rocky Mountain Regional Fly-In August 28-29, 2010  Mooney Ambassadors will display.  This year’s event will also commemorate the 50th anniversary of its venue. The Colorado Sport International Air Show and Rocky Mountain Regional Fly-In will be held August 28 & 29, 2010 at the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield, CO. The event will not only celebrate the airport’s history and importance to the community but also provide great family fun and enjoyment for our neighbors in the Denver metro area and throughout the region." Lake in the Sky, South Lake Tahoe, August 27th and 28th 2010
We will be airshow participants this year.  Complimentary evening meal on Friday August 27th, breakfast and lunch on the 28th. Free admission to all Mooneys who fly in. We will cap at 12 Mooneys on display. All Mooneys are welcome, and we will have space on the ramp, probably near Mountain West for any Mooneys who sign up beyond the display cap.   Sign ups are first come first served for the 12 display slots. If you would like to be considered for the airshow demonstration, you will need to attend mandatory pilot briefings.

Elko, Nevada Sky Fair September 11th, 2010  The purpose of Sky Fair is to showcase general aviation at the Elko Regional Airport. So this goal is directly in line with our Mooney Ambassadors mission.
It is intended to be educational and fun for the general public who normally do not have access to J.C. Harris field and aircraft. The event will be held on Saturday September 11th, 2010 on the same weekend as the Elko MoRodders Car Show. We will also have pilot goody bags and a fuel discount.  Will also do an informal VIP BBQ Friday night the day before the fly in.The event is FREE to the public and goes from 8 AM to 4 PM.  Point Person:  Randy Powell

I don't see anything on that list on June 26th, so I'll mention that's when Reid-Hillview Airport Day is scheduled this year. It's more of a community-facing event than an airshow. There will be a pancake breakfast, a BBQ lunch, a model airplane airshow, a raffle, tower tours, and, not that it does you all much good, Young Eagles rides. We usually do have some pretty cool static displays and flybys. And the weather will probably be better than it was in January (though not necesarily... it even rained a few years ago).

Mooney Ambassador Gilles Khaiat seeks world record!  June 12, 2010 The flight will be an attempt for a FAI word record non stop and no refueling on the distance CANNES (LFMD) France to TEL-AVIV (LLBG) Israël, with a Mooney M20 J, standard configuration, with Monroy tanks, 98 USG total fuel on board.The IFR route is 1510 Nm and the theoretical range of the aircraft if 1650 Nm, so not much than we need, no consideration of the wind, rerouting, etc.The departure will be from CANNES, during EURAVIA Airshow  and French AOPA Assembly and the arrival be during the opening of the World IAOPA Assembly held at Tel-Aviv.The flight will be managed with Jacques CAILLIES who is the Publisher of the French magazine AVIATION & PILOTE, and also a Mooniac and the owner of a Mooney OVATION 2 G1000.

Edenton, NC Northeastern Regional Airport, September 25, 2010
Point Person: Amelia Reiheld sure would love to have a gathering of Mooney Ambassadors there, so all you Mooney drivers, plan to join us in beautiful historic , for a fly-in/community open house at Northeastern Regional Airport. It'll probably run from 10-5 or so. We hope to have area military big-iron, both static and fly-over demos, RC demos, food vendors, free airplane rides, exhibits from charitable flight organizations, etc. Camping and airplane parking are (as always) free, though you'll need to bring your own tie-downs. If camping and fair-food isn't your style, reserve a car with Enterprise, and book a room in one of the wonderful B&Bs   in and around Edenton. There are some excellent restaurants, too. If Mama would rather tour the colonial historic sites and shop than talk airplanes, we'll find a ride into town.

Went to the Tehachapi event and had an amazing time.  Austin Kalb was an awesome host and we felt like they really rolled out the red carpet for us Mooney folk.  Let it be clear to everyone...Tehachapi is now Mooney country.  I didn't realize they had camping, but I'll be back there to enjoy those facilities and the warm hospitality of everyone there as soon as possible.
