Very nice 1986 Mooney 201 with 1061 Total time. Yes, 1061 TT. Damaged but will fly home and be an easy repair. Pilot landed gearup, hitting a runway light with right wing. As I stated, plane will fly home. Prop has been replaced and AC made ferriable. Damage is as follows:

3rd skin from tip needsto be replaced. Did not touch spar, but needs 1 rib and 1 stringer replacedor repaired

Small bump in LE of right wing that will work out. Nothing to replace

NG doors of course

RH cowl flap has minor scrape

Tailpipe has small scrape

Fiberglass belly pan has 3 areas that are very small that need repaired. Belly is on AC and fastened.

Step needs replaced and a small repair to the step bulkhead. No skin or bulkhead replacement.

Pilot put gearhandle in the down position too late, so needs L&R main gear rods as well as the NG retract truss. Gear is still legged now.

Needs LH inner clamshell gear door.

A mechanic(sheetmetal) with mooney experience quoted me $1,500.00 labor for the sheetmetal work

Quote of $800.00 for prop strike inspection

Prop will need OH for paperwork or I will knock off $2,000.00 and keep the propand you can applythat to 3 blade if you want

There is really no such thing as a good deal. My advice to the seller would be to have those remarkably low priced repairs done and then sell the plane for a premium. By my estimation, your return on the quoted repairs could be 3x their costs. Hard to pass up that kind of investment, isn't it?

The numbers make no sense to me; especially with so many nice examples at good prices for sale right now. If this is such a good deal, why no photos? I'd love to see what the damage really is!

I had minor prop strike, NO gear up landing and my insurance paid $24,000 plus I had to pony up $8000 for "betterment"

Serious money to fix and a good 3 month wait. This is no easy fix by any means.

This makes no sense.

The question is, how much for the repairs? $60K? At the end you have an airplane with damage history, in this market say $95-100K? So the most you'd want to pay for this plane is $35K, and that leaves no margin for the headaches of managing the project and the carry costs of owning a grounded plane for several months. In the end, this might prove to be an attractive deal to me at $25-30K, but any more than that and I'll keep browsing Controller and TAP!

JimR,

I'm not sure the fuel tanks are in unknown condition...

The current photos are indicating known leaks, just the description may have missed the point....

It's a case of unknown unknowns...

I used the words "current photos" thinking they may change over time.  Apparently, they already did...

Best regards,
