PeeJee Posted November 10, 2025 Report Posted November 10, 2025 I am in a desperate need of a voltage regulator. I heard the delivery time with Mooney is +6 months. Can anyone help me with a working or a not working one. Mine got lost with UPS, returning from a repair shop.

PeeJee Posted November 11, 2025 Author Report Posted November 11, 2025 That is a 14V and I need a 28V!

You could try reaching out to Zeftronics: https://zeftronics.com/

Even back then they put their part number on a regulator that a company assembled, most likely Zeftronics. Why not go to the source? 2
Rwsavory Posted November 11, 2025 Report Posted November 11, 2025 Call Don Maxwell Aviation in Longview, Texas to see if they can find one for you.
PeeJee Posted November 11, 2025 Author Report Posted November 11, 2025 I have send mine to him. After repair it got lost with UPS, because a faulty address has been given. After that Don send me another one, but that is not working……

It’s a pretty simple device, and they’re quite reliable. Would be a good fit for a used working one.

LANCECASPER Posted November 12, 2025 Report Posted November 12, 2025 Zeftronics who did Mooney's regulators is located in Longview TX, where Maxwell Aviation is. My guess, when you send your regulator to Maxwell he takes it to Zeftronics or he has an employee that used to work at Zeftronics. 1
MarkD34M Posted November 12, 2025 Report Posted November 12, 2025 BAS was parting out an Ovation recently. https://baspartsales.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoqiR7JkFAP7C54Xqad4bURHhF97Y_GzzuDe6ZZ1myJSk_foar
amillet Posted November 14, 2025 Report Posted November 14, 2025 BAS is where my current 24V VR was obtained. N1084L was grounded from last December until April while trying to fix Alt Field circuit breaker tripping. It was finally diagnosed to be the voltage regulator. We sent it to Don Maxwell to overhaul. When it came back, the breaker still tripped. It was sent back a second time, and still tripped the circuit breaker when it came back. Finally I ordered a used one from BAS and when it was installed, it cured the problem. We sent the original voltage regulator to Consolidated Aircraft Supply in New York (suggested by @kortopates)and had it repaired there, they found a cold soldered joint that was bad.
N201MKTurbo Posted November 14, 2025 Report Posted November 14, 2025 Just put in a plane power regulator they work great. They have field overcurrent protection. Zeftronics doesn’t. The warning light circuit won’t work unless you modify the light circuit.
amillet Posted November 14, 2025 Report Posted November 14, 2025 I was advised that no one currently makes a 24 volt VR

N201MKTurbo Posted November 14, 2025 Report Posted November 14, 2025 The plane power R1224 is configurable as a 28 volt regulator.
amillet Posted November 14, 2025 Report Posted November 14, 2025 The approved list doesn’t include J,s or later on Aircraft Spruce website
N201MKTurbo Posted November 14, 2025 Report Posted November 14, 2025 45 minutes ago, amillet said: The approved list doesn’t include J,s or later on Aircraft Spruce website I know. It won’t work with the stock warning light. You have to rewire the warning light. But it will run your alternator just fine.
N201MKTurbo Posted November 14, 2025 Report Posted November 14, 2025 I wish they would add another output for the warning light. One high side output and one low side output. Their AML would be a lot bigger. 1
kortopates Posted November 14, 2025 Report Posted November 14, 2025 That’s what I’ve heard as well and it makes me a little nervous about the two 24v regulators in my 252!Don’t be, they are easily repaired by Consolidated Aircraft in New York, an electrical repair station. They have most of the Mooney drawings to repair these. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
