teethdoc Posted August 18 Report Posted August 18 So my current setup of gns530w and KAP150. In NAV mode it does not sync the track needle automatically. I have to turn the track needle to the track recommended by the gns530 making it almost like a heading bug. Will that be the same with the IFD, or can it be set to auto sync the track with the magenta line and therefore tell the KAP to follow that line? Long term goal is to add dual gi275 and gfc500, but not in the budget for now. Quote

Scott Ashton Posted August 18 Report Posted August 18 You don't have GPSS. I have the 540 and KAP150 and I have to turn the OBS manually at each leg turn to get the AP to track. Otherwise it doesn’t have a starting heading to try to minimize the CDI error. I’ve been looking at ways to get GPSS, including the 275s and the Aspen, but I’m playing “Spin the OBS” for now….. 1 Quote
Bob Weber Posted August 18 Report Posted August 18 NAV and APR modes use Course Datum and CDI to navigate the " Raw Data" like we were taught in training. The course select is like a heading bug to set the intercept of a course. Once established on course with centered CDI, the course is allowed to drift slowly for wind correction. I like the GI 275's and your KAP 150 will love them when correctly installed and set up. 1 Quote

Newer digital ones come with gpss and auto slewing. Quote
