Removing it isn't the issue, it is putting the safety wire back on. I have a set of locking hemostats in the tool box just to help me thread the safety wire through the hole in the sump, something like these.

You guys are lucky. I have a turbo support bracket that goes right behind it. I have to remove three somewhat spring loaded bolts that are not easy to get to, just to have access to the suction screen. So I have a PITA to get to the PITA...

the "easy" way

Sometimes when you're just so lucky, the holes in the bolt and engine case line up... Reducing your working time from 4hrs to 1.5 (cowl off to cowl back on time)

You thank your favorite deity for this treat, ask for forgiveness for all the swear words you invented the other times, especially when the bolt hole was between 12 and 6 o'clock and buy a lottery ticket while your luck is still glowing, and go home before wife goes to sleep to spread the joy.

Otherwise, it really is a RPITA. (Royal PITA)

Hey guys. What is the "easy" way to remove the oil pickup screen on an O-360 '64 E model? Tricks? Tips? New swear words?

Since you're in Kerrville the "easy" way is to drop it off with David Behrens at Dugosh. :)
