So I saw this the other day, and while I knew the story of the evolution of the TBM, I wondered what happed to this airplane?

this was not the turbine, but a 360hp piston.

did it get destroyed or is in the cobwebs at the factory?

It’s just a bummer that Mooney didn’t survive and bring this airplane to market.

The airplane is still around.

The other day I was talking to a TBM owner at KMTN. His jaw dropped when I told him the "M" stood for "Mooney". Then I showed him the picture and recounted the history.

I read a long long time ago that it was given to a community college A&P program somewhere, I think in Texas.

After they cut the wings off they gave the fuselage to an A & P school in Abilene, TX.
