Steve Dawson Posted November 1, 2023 Report Posted November 1, 2023 I have a 1980 M20K with Precise Flight manual speed brakes and unfortunately it doesn't have any annunciating of when the brakes are out. Does anyone know if there's an annunciator available or has anyone made one that has been approved? Yes I know I can just look out to confirm they're down. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted November 1, 2023 Report Posted November 1, 2023 Do you have a switch on the yoke,or on the panel? If panel, what does it look like? Quote
Steve Dawson Posted November 1, 2023 Author Report Posted November 1, 2023 These are completely manual so it has a lever beside the trim wheel on the floor. The lever attaches to a cable which connects to two individual cables which each control the left and right wing speed brake. I've a call into Precise flight but as of now they don't know and I'm waiting for someone that may. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted November 1, 2023 Report Posted November 1, 2023 The 100 series (electric) use a 4X relay to activate the motors up or down, and the annunciator light is part of that circuitry. No electricity, no annunciation lights unless you have a limit switch, like the J has for the ram air. Aerodon Posted November 4, 2023 Report Posted November 4, 2023 Steve, I have the manual somewhere, and also looked up the lighted annunciator / switch on digikey once. You can also have a simple annunciator light and a pushbutton on the control wheel. Aerodon Quote

Sounds like someone has bypassed the vacuum servo underneath the centre wing and replaced with a manual pull system? I've only seen the vacuum system, electric motor and integrated electric systems. Steve Dawson Posted November 6, 2023 Author Report Posted November 6, 2023 Other than being in a K model these are the same as what I have. It has a different STC than the electric or vacuum type too. They aren't anodized but look like they were painted the same colour as the plane. Quote
WilliamR Posted November 6, 2023 Report Posted November 6, 2023 I've flown one or two K models with the manual system. As noted, this wasn't some work around. It was purpose built with an STC. Unfortunately, there was no annunciator like the vacuum or electric ones. So, I can't help. William Quote
