Pinecone Posted September 18, 2023 Report Posted September 18, 2023 FYI, there is a shortage of PLexus due to some supply chain issues. Quote
NewMoon Posted September 18, 2023 Author Report Posted September 18, 2023 Thx guys, I have a fresh can but have only used it on a Meridian. Do you all use a micro fiber towel? Quote
exM20K Posted September 18, 2023 Report Posted September 18, 2023 I use these https://www.sportys.com/dupont-sontara-window-wipes-pack-of-25.html Quote

Bartman Posted September 18, 2023 Report Posted September 18, 2023 Mild soap and water immediately after each flight. Clean microfiber each time. Use up-and-down direction to prevent swirls. Quote
MikeOH Posted September 18, 2023 Report Posted September 18, 2023 Pink Wash-Wax-All and microfiber towel; no circular wiping! Quote
NewMoon Posted September 19, 2023 Author Report Posted September 19, 2023 I have also used the Novus products, cleans and buffs out light scratches at the same time. Slightly diluted in a spray bottle. 1 Quote
philiplane Posted September 19, 2023 Report Posted September 19, 2023 the Sontara towels need extra care when using, they tend to leave a white film or streaks on the windows. Plexus is the best though. Makes the windows nearly invisible. Well worth the cost. 2 Quote

Pinecone Posted September 19, 2023 Report Posted September 19, 2023 Plexus here. A microfiber that is ONLY used for windows. And when dirty, is replaced with new. If dusty, I start with water and hand, Microfiber is getting cheap enough that I am not sure it is worth washing. 1 Quote

I have microfiber towels color coded for various tasks. I only use the window towels on windows, and nothing else. That said, as Pinecone suggests above, I know at least one guy who uses a new towel each time, and then just throws it away. Now that I think about it, he's a Bonanza guy, so maybe that makes more sense. 1 Quote

I buy Harbor Freight's big bag of microfiber towels and use them until they're "sufficiently used" and then cycle them out. I often wash them but they get delegated to lesser tasks after that, so only new ones get used on things like windows, leading edges, etc. 1 Quote
hubcap Posted September 19, 2023 Report Posted September 19, 2023 I get the microfiber cloths from Uline in bulk. Very affordable that way. 1 Quote
201Mooniac Posted September 19, 2023 Report Posted September 19, 2023 I used to use plexus but had such bad customer service when I got a bad can. They refused to send me another until I sent back the old can. I sent it in (paying for the postage) and they told me I mishandled it so they wouldn't replace it. Now I was out the can, the cost of postage, and they wouldn't even return the bad can to me. I stopped buying there product and haven't used it since (been about 10 or 12 years now). 1 Quote

Ragsf15e Posted September 19, 2023 Report Posted September 19, 2023 Novus is another great option and it’s cheaper if you buy larger quantities on Amazon. You can put it in a small pump bottle or refill their pump bottle. Novus 1 for washing, 2 and 3 for trying to remove scratches. For convenience and ease of use, plexus in its original spray can is tough to beat. Quote

I've been using https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/avlgc.php and it seems to work just as well. I had gotten a few cans as a present so I didn't know where they had been purchased from and the non-pilot gift giver couldn't remember so I went to the company directly. Quote

hammdo Posted September 20, 2023 Report Posted September 20, 2023 I use Davies https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/dwdavies08-12390.php and these microfiber towels: https://theragcompany.com/collections/all-microfiber/products/platinum-pluffle These towels work great - my Camaro loves them :o) -Don 1 Quote
jaylw314 Posted September 20, 2023 Report Posted September 20, 2023 Novus #1 is good, but I have to admit, I probably use it once a year. Otherwise, it's just a couple drops of car wash soap in a half gallon of water. Mist liberally, let sit for a few minutes, then wipe off with a rolled up microfiber towel. I've just been using the same towel, I'll wash it every couple months. Quote
dzeleski Posted September 20, 2023 Report Posted September 20, 2023 For anyone that washes their microfibers make sure you wash them without any fabric softener and dry them without a dryer sheet on the lowest temp setting. Fabric softener/dryer sheets tends to make them hydrophobic and if you dry them at too high of a heat setting the fabric can melt and cause scratching/love marks. I rotate my towels down as they wear out. A worn out towel for your windshield works great on the belly. After that it’s a great shop rag. 1 Quote
