So I've searched high and low for the factory weight/balance and equipment list. Nothing in the AFM/POH and nothing from the FAA records. Is it possible to acquire this from a source such as Mooney or the FAA?

1967 M20F

Thanks,

Nothing in Section VI of your POH?  That section is dedicated to Weight and Balance.  Most airplanes of any age have several pages showing things removed and things added, as well as the calculations that go with those changes.  Having all the pages allows you to go back and check for calculation errors that can affect weight, balance, or both.

Not for my C. There are scattered pieces of paper filled with cryptic scribbling, line outs and corrections that are probably previous W&Bs, all crammed into a notebook along with invoices, emails and stuff from the engine overhaul.

It's always fun when a W&B is corrected by scribbling out the old equipment, weight and arm and writing in the new stuff below it then redoing the math . . . .

Sounds about right.  That's like all the scribbles in my oldest logs.  Fortunately, most mechanics and shops now use stickies for the logs.  Usually, the weight and balance calculations are still in the scribble phase of evolution.  I have a spreadsheet, but who knows if the numbers it's based on were any good.

I have all kinds of weight and balance revisions. I am going to weigh the plane. Nothing in the Part VI because I don't even have that chapter. It's just an owner's manual dated March 1967 as per the TCDS with chapters I-V. I would just like to have an original or copy of.

As I bought my 1967 M20F, it came with weight and balance and equipment records from day one. All included.

My POH has a list of possible items installed, with many checked off.  Some additions and removals, but not up to date.  I have another W&B sheet that is the last one done.

Airplane is going in for major avionics/panel work and will be weighed after.  It should be interesting.

An easy thing to do with a missing equipment list is to take an original from a similar (same model) airplane and just reproduce it.   In other words, make another one, duplicate that stuff that's on your airplane and change the entries for other stuff.   One nice thing about starting with an existing sheet is that the moment arms are all there, and the weights for the original equipment.

I've updated mine a few times and it's really easy to do.

My 1980 Cessna 172 has a  factory 'standard' empty weight plus all selected options to arrive at the first W&B.

My 1987 Mooney M20K has a similar detailed list of options and weights, but the first W&B is from weighing the airplane.

I would find a similar vintage Mooney and build up a proper spreadsheet and then weight the plane.  Do enough detail that the spreadsheet can double as an 'Equipment List' and that when stuff is removed and replaced, the next guy can do an amendment quickly and accurately.
