fr8dog62 Posted March 16, 2022 Report Posted March 16, 2022 I have a 1980 J model that needs a new battery. The rest of the electrical system is fine but the 6 year old battery will not hold a charge. The current model is a Concorde RG-35AXC but I have been unable to find one anywhere. Even speaking to Boeing Aveo, the manufacturer they can not find one in North America. Has anybody found a solution to this shortage? The lead times look like 9 months according to some vendors. Considering I am AOG right now I am looking for a fast replacement. Any ideas? By the way, I look for a Gill 7035-28 and they are all back ordered as well. Thanks! Todd Quote

Yes, but I think I can resurrect it. 2 hours ago, A64Pilot said: Free IA seminar battery? In 2018 I won the grand door prize at the FAA sponsored Southwest Aviation Maintenance Symposium AKA the IA seminar. It counts for 1 year of IA currency. Quote
A64Pilot Posted March 17, 2022 Report Posted March 17, 2022 (edited) if it’s a Concorde they have a procedure to help recover from sulphation, might need an adjustable power supply though, normal batteries it’s called an equalization charge, it’s an intentional overcharge to assist in conversion of sulphated plates, Concorde calls it a conditioning charge This CMM explains the conditioning charge on page 107, recovery from deep discharge is right after conditioning charge https://batterymanagement.concordebattery.com/BatteryDocs/5-0171.pdf You may already know this, if so maybe it may help someone else Edited March 17, 2022 by A64Pilot Quote

Todd Aircraft Spruce shows the Concorde RG-35AXC in stock. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/rg_35axc.php If you can’t get that, the slightly lower capacity RG-35A should be more common. Boeing isn’t the manufacturer. The battery is manufactured by Concorde. Boeing bought out Aviall which is a wholesale parts supplier. Skip Quote
