I have noticed that diesel and 100ll prices are about the same in my area.  4.10 or so.    Not sure what to think about that.   But I have been driving the Subie more than the truck

Actually 100LL is much more expensive.  I think you are comparing quick turnover diesel inventory prices to an old inventory of 100LL in the Houston area.  Diesel in Houston has risen $0.65/gal. in the last month.  It looks like aviation fuel prices at KIWS and all Houston airports except Rosenberg have popped up now.

Ha. Don't pay those big city prices.   I was comparing country prices.   Hallitsville was 4.25 this week when I filled up there.

The continued rise of 100LL prices has given me pause in determination for continued ownership. At some point I just cant take dropping $300-400 to go have fun for a couple hours.

Not sure what kind of aircraft you have, but I fly usually deep LOP at 6 to 6.5 GPH at 120 kts, sure that’s 25 kts off of high cruise, but it’s nearly half the fuel too, turns $55 a hour in fuel into $30 an hour.

I do however concede your point and it’s going to get worse too, so be prepared for that.

If your going to sell, now is the time, don’t wait too long.

Leaned out my Mooney burns less fuel per mile then my C-140.

Mooney at 120 kts and 6.5  is 18.5 MPG.

Cessna at 90 kts and 5.5 is 16.3 MPG

I’ve not tired slower in the 140 or leaner on the Mooney, and fuel burn on the 140 is postulated (taken from the internet) not measured.

Oh, and on edit the 140 is actually happier with car gas, just haven’t used it in a long time, but I guess maybe should go back to it.

Point is that not much is cheaper to fly than a J model, if you don’t mind spending longer to get there, but if your just weekend flying OFO, slow down and enjoy the ride.

Our FBO just bumped prices $0.50 overnight. Up to $5.90. I thought BFE Iowa would be better than that.

Filled the Mooney yesterday in Sweet Home for $4.85, gas for the truck was $3.999!

I remember when I was little - and gas hit $0.25/gal and my dad said he would quit driving.  But he didn't...

I remember thinking that when it hit $1.00, too!  ;)

Filled up yesterday evening for $4.10 at HAB in rural west Alabama.   Driving home from the airport I saw local car gas prices as high as $4.09.   Lowest differential I've ever seen.  Bound to be transient.

Wait till they buy another fuel load for the bulk tanks!   They are still using last trucks gas.

This would be it.  AVGAS is always late to rise and slower to go down than car gas.

It’s interesting how gas station will increase prices from one day to the next based I guess on what the next load of fuel will cost them, but for some reason Avgas is sold based off of what the fuel in the tanks cost, so some rural airports witj low fuel turnover rates the fuel price may lag well behind airports who turn fuel faster when prices are increasing.

The real question though is two fold, 1. how high will it go, and 2. Will it stay there?

High Diesel inflates everything as Diesel is required in the manufacture and or transportation of most things and costs are passed on.

We may have state laws that dictate how often the prices can be changed for a gallon of automotive fuel…

NJ has a specific rule on how often a price can be changed…
