Powerflow Exhaust Question

Hello,

I have a powerflow exhaust on my 67F.

The baffle came loose from it’s weld and is out of the muffler currently.
What is people’s experience with re-welding it back to the muffler?

Certified shop, any weld shop, left removed and flew without?

AC43-13 has a section about weld repairs. As long as your shop follows or supervises someone who follows it, you are approved to repair it.

Are you talking about the flame tube inside the muffler?    AFAIK it doesn't need to be there.   The inspection criterion is just that there aren't pieces blocking the flow.

Mine has deteriorated over the years and just disappeared.   There is essentially no flame tube left.

Something to consider...

Interior baffles of an exhaust system affect how the exhaust flows through the system...

They mostly keep the hottest exhaust from impinging on the outside can...

When the hottest part of the exhaust more directly contacts the outer part... stresses and other things can happen...

It is best to have all of the exhaust system parts in place to get the same performance you are expecting...

Worst case issues to be aware of...  welds opening in the exhaust that can allow CO to escape into the heat system...

Make sure you have a good CO meter...
