anthonydesmet Posted October 13, 2020 Report Posted October 13, 2020 Looking for a place and brand name for a tow bar to pull Mooney behind golf cart with a ball hitch Quote
Guest Posted October 13, 2020 Report Posted October 13, 2020 Brackett tow bars from Spruce. These use the same tow bar tube in the nose gear. Clarence Quote
Planegary Posted October 13, 2020 Report Posted October 13, 2020 I designed one with a turntable for the nosewheel to sit on to prevent any oversteer damage. search under towbar and all the specs are there and you can put any design hitch on it you want. I am headed to work this week but can get info and /or photos if you need 1 Quote
Igor_U Posted October 13, 2020 Report Posted October 13, 2020 I bought this Joy Tow bar on Ebay years ago and I'm quite happy with it. https://www.wagaero.com/ground-support/tow-bars/universal-joy-bar-parts/universal-joy-tow-bar.html i use it behind riding mower and it works great. Quote
carusoam Posted October 14, 2020 Report Posted October 14, 2020 If you want fancy... BE-3with the ball hitch attachment... very nice... https://redlineaviation.com/mooney/be-3-xl-mooney-airplanes Best regards, -a- Quote
anthonydesmet Posted October 27, 2020 Author Report Posted October 27, 2020 Can someone confirm for me that 231’s / 201’s use the 1/4 inch pin fittings for the tow bar for our nose gear? Trivia, do ALL Mooney’s use the same fitting? Quote
carusoam Posted October 28, 2020 Report Posted October 28, 2020 A, We all use the same nose gear... does that help? Technically, some have the turn limiting screws, some don’t... Some got that funky bungee to smooth something out... 99.9% of them have been removed... We all use the same tow bar.... but, I don’t recall 1/4” being the right size... Best regards, -a- Quote
tmo Posted October 28, 2020 Report Posted October 28, 2020 I think the part of the towbar that goes through the nose gear is closer to 1" in diameter. 1 Quote
DonMuncy Posted October 28, 2020 Report Posted October 28, 2020 A one inch OD tube fits nicely into the nose gear tube. 2 1 Quote
glenn reynolds Posted October 30, 2020 Report Posted October 30, 2020 given how tight the turn radius of the mooney nose gear is I would suggest that you rig the tow bar to the front of the golf cart so you must operate the golf cart backwards and are able to watch the towing angle. if that doesn't work for you, go with the turntable. It's a VERY expensive repair if you turn too tight and have to repair your nose gear. Quote
