I'm in the process of having my 1980 20J converted from an IO 360 A3B6D to an A3B6. One issue is the oil cooler lines. At some point I read a thread that the oil cooler can be flipped over or reversed somehow and it takes care of the oil lines not fitting. I have searched far and wide for that tread but can not locate it. Does anyone remember this topic and if so point me to that thead? This thread is the most detailed but the oil cooler mod I am speaking of is not here. M20J IO-360-A3B6 Conversion Experience

I don’t remember which thread it’s in but I made the comment. That was a tip given to me by Don Maxwell. If you use the hoses specified in the IPC for the A3B6 installation, you need to flip the oil cooler.

The other things that trip people up are the prop governor line interfering with the motor mount. (The easiest solution is to just bend the line a bit.) The prop governor (you need a different governor, the mounting to the engine is different, the cable mounting hardware is different - it’s all in the Lycoming and Mooney parts books) and lastly putting the jumper on the ignition switch to ground out the right mag for starting.

Thanks for that tip. It was probably your post that I remember. I couldn't remember the details or the source.

If you run into another issue that’s got a pretty specific question like that, I’ve found DMax to be very helpful over the phone.  If you call and ask, they almost always transfer you directly to him.

I’ve posted the oil cooler hoses part numbers. Here they are again. And for fact they fit perfectly, no oil cooler flipping.
