Heck of a nice guy, and always seems to get really clean mooney’s. if I were looking for this at the moment I would seriously consider this one. I personally think it’s slightly high for the radios, it still worth looking at. Quote

Very low useful load (908). Expensive to maintain KFC200. Quote

I receive their emails and always get a kick out of the pilot reports. “The plane flew great!”, “straight as an arrow and FAST!”. They are in the sales business so I’d expect nothing else but it would be funny one that wasn’t incredibly glowing. Quote
MooneyMike Posted July 23, 2020 Report Posted July 23, 2020 On the plus side, it looks great and paint and interior are not cheap. Avionics have changed greatly, my last ADF approach was about 20 years ago and I love the Aspen and Garmin it now has. I’d suggest looking at any airplane with the engine hours, condition (paint, etc.) and avionics and from there, price / add what you want in an airplane. Then evaluate from that, because if you want XX avionics and intend to install it, can you find an airplane for sale at a price that works? Carusoam had a good point in that there are no bad airplanes. There are those that may cost you more however. But you already know all this. My airplane has bladders and they’ve cost me about $40.00 in gaskets since I’ve owned it. The reduced fuel load and weight is not an issue for me, but how you use your airplane is your concern. Most importantly you escaped demonic possession by five digits...But seriously, this is a time capsule that “presents” very well, but the engine should be considered run out and priced to fly “on condition” based on time since overhaul. The avionics are dated for sure and ADSB and a digital Nav. Com will be on list “soon” as well as G5’s or Aspens that will bump this “buy” by $60k. Deals can be found. Recently purchased a sub-$100k missile with 530 and 430 and 330 as well as functioning STEC with altitude hold and comparable leather...BE PATIENT. This plane is priced HIGH based on engine and avionics IMO. Good luck in your devil free search... Quote

gsxrpilot Posted July 24, 2020 Report Posted July 24, 2020 Pro Tip: If you're serious about a Mooney and ready to put it under contract and schedule a pre-buy... start by sending copies of the log books to Laura at SWTA along with probably $250. She is an A&P, Pilot, and Mooney specialist. She will go through the logs with a fine tooth comb and give you information you'd never find any other way. It will either give you more confirmation and confidence going into a prebuy. Or it will save you the cost of a prebuy and further expense on a plane you'd rather not own. Either way, it is money well spent. 2 1 Quote
