I am so BUMMED if you see the upside down Y brace that I do not see on @TargetDriver pictures.  My order of equipment does not fit.  That Y brace is in the way even with the 170 all the way at the bottom.  My only two solutions get are to rid of the 170 and replace with a thinner NAV/COM $$$$$ or move it to the next shelf.  I was really wanting to keep it clean with everything in one shelf but I also do not want to spend the money on a new NAV/COM.

I went through a similar situation. I didn't have the MX170 but had a combination of separate coms and nav units. I got rid of the old stuff and replaced it with a KX165 off of Barnstormers. It was thinner than the other combination of radios, and as it's only the secondary nav/com to the IFD540, I didn't want to spend thousands. It works well enough, allowed me to fit everything in the center stack. I'm happy with the decision.

I’d personally rather have a new quality com vs an old nav/com. My money would be spent on a par200b instead of the 450.

I would consider that but I already have the 450b

Considering that option now.  Trying to find a picture of your stack.  I know I have seen it on here before!

Hey @gsxrpilot where'd  you get those cool embroidered logos at the center of your yokes?  Hector at Aero Comfort?

Yep! Hector's done the yokes for both of my Mooneys. He's the best there is.

My IFD540 will not go that high in my 76F.  The Y brace is in the way.  The highest the bottom could go is about the center of the nobs (at best) on your KX165.  I do think the Garmin SL30 or the new Trig (not approved until next year) would fit where your AP is currently, but I am not going to spend the money for it.  I like the MX170 fine for a second NAV/COM.  It will simply be a longer reach to change the channel.  Thanks for sharing the pictures.

How do they attach? Magnets?

No, they are attached with a screw from the bottom. There might be some glue involved as well. I sent the original yokes to Hector and they came back like this. You can choose the color of the stitching if you don't like the factory color.

Here's what they looked like before.

I'll send him a note.  My yokes are already done by AC, previous owner.  But I like those center medallions.  I'll  ask if they're  retro-fittable.

Thx! Happy New Year!

Here it is !  Picked it up couple days ago. Everything works as expected so far.  I'll probably make a few minor adjustments but I'm happy with it.  If I have the ELT and hot prop voltage indicator  moved I can juuust fit an Ipad mini in that blank area and I want to make flush mount fillers for the two vacant covered instrument holes.

It's not GSXR level of cool yet but I'm working on it. :)
