bd32322 Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Anyone have any good experiences with avionics shops in the North East ? Anywhere in between Maine to North Carolina. I am in Massachusetts. Also does anyone know if there are shops that will let the owner work on avionics under supervision of an AP/IA? I know my mechanic is willing to let others work on their planes under his supervision - but he doesnt do avionics. Thanks Quote

jsimmons619 Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 I had a Garmin 430W and a GPSS system installed by NexAir Avionics located in Mansfield, MA.in my Mooney. I would highly recommend them. Their website is located at: www.nexairavionics.com. I do not know their position on owner assistance but I wuld tend to doubt it. Quote
201er Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 Charlie at Airport Radio at N43 does good work. Not sure about the owner assist but give him a call, very reasonable guy. Quote

fantom Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 If I were and avionics shop owner, I'd charge extra for owner assisted work. How do they know how competent you are, and I imagine there are both liability and warranty issues. Questions, shop supplies, borrowed tools, and the like do add up. Heck, if you know what you're doing...just do it. Good luck! Quote
lenblock Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 I don't know if Conrad will allow owner assisted work. Worth asking though. Quote
