Prior owner Posted August 2, 2019 Report Posted August 2, 2019 (edited) Somebody on eBay has about 20 NOS “push to start” Bendix ignition switch repair kits for sale at $30 each. At least they did yesterday.... I just received 2 kits and they appear that be the real deal from Bendix. You get a new base plate and 3 new contacts. Thought this might be helpful to others, as the kits go for just under $200. If you’re interested, search eBay for the kit number 10-357515, which is the correct kit for mine, per the Bendix service bulletin. Sure beats the plate I’ve got in my switch... skydvrboy Posted August 2, 2019 Report Posted August 2, 2019 I guess I'll just have to bookmark this thread so I know who to call when mine goes. 7 Quote
Janat83 Posted August 2, 2019 Report Posted August 2, 2019 It probably has silver contacts that might have a little corrosion but the switch has wiping type contact action and a little corrosion is of no consequence, thanks for the heads-up, I got mine too Quote
Prior owner Posted August 2, 2019 Author Report Posted August 2, 2019 The brown discoloration on mine is just the lubricant that was wiped all over them years ago...I’ll probably just leave it on there, as intended. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted August 2, 2019 Report Posted August 2, 2019 Is there really that high of a failure rate with these switches...that some of you are buying 2? I think would retrofit a ACS switch? Quote

RLCarter Posted August 2, 2019 Report Posted August 2, 2019 Having a spare (or 2) ensures yours won't fail, untill you break down and sell it to someone in need, then yours will fail within days 1 Quote

spistora Posted November 27, 2021 Report Posted November 27, 2021 Looks like my switch is not working. Did anyone have one of the repair kits that they would like to get rid of or know where I can find one? I've check controller and ebay, and there doesn't appear to be any for sale a the moment. Quote
hammdo Posted November 27, 2021 Report Posted November 27, 2021 Try this first to make sure: https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-D5S-6-DeoxIT-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B00006LVEU/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?crid=OYFNIZIPMILA&keywords=deoxit+d5&qid=1637975173&sprefix=Deox%2Caps%2C180&sr=8-6 This worked on my stiff/poor starter/contact switch. Now, works good! Also, you may want to have the solinoid checked (on the firewall in my C)... -Don Quote
spistora Posted November 27, 2021 Report Posted November 27, 2021 I have some contact cleaners, I'll give them a try. I did check the solenoid. There is no voltage at the control signal terminal with the key turned and pushed. Thanks. Quote
hammdo Posted November 27, 2021 Report Posted November 27, 2021 The D5 is a lube/cleaner that was recommended to me by my AP as it does not cause harm to the switch... Just an FYI.. -Don Quote
