Hello everyone.

I am not a member at present but may wish to become one. I am looking for the a group of active Mooney pilots to share flight with. It says on your site that you have numerous events beyond OSH and I was just wondering if someone could contact me and let me know where and when those events might be or where to find a list of them. Did not located anything about events on the site.

Many thanks,

T. Speerstra

@Capt. "T", there is a specific forum below for Florida pilots, one for the Mooney Summit held every year in Panama City Beach, FL, and one specific to the Mooney Caravan and their formation flight training and trips.

Tom is correct; we have members active on here from several continents and one member has put together an interactive map with those people who have given him their approval to identify them based on the information they have in their avatar. But to get access to it, you have to include your information. If it something you are interested in doing, complete your information and send @gsxrpilot a message letting him know.

Just last weekend, there was a lunch fly-in in LA (Lower Alabama) where a couple of Mooneys made the trip. With Oshkosh running, it was a bit thin, but we have these types of things from time to time.

There is also a New Jersey group that either @carusoam or @Alan Fox can discuss.

California has several folks who will meet up from time to time as well as the Mooney Flyer gathering held during the year.

The Mooney MAX conference has been held for the past two years in Longview, TX (KGGG) and is scheduled for 2020 at this time as well.

There are others, so you can see depending on where in the country you are located, there is usually something happening within a short Mooney ride.

And since it appears I beat Anthony, welcome aboard.

Hey, Welcome aboard, Big T!

If you are working off a small screen... it can be a challenge to see all the data that is available to you...

See if you can find the area where you can enter some details about yourself... include a pic, location and which Mooney you may be looking for...

This helps us to include you...

Best regards,

OK, Thanks for the replies, you are right of course, I did not mention which part of the country I am in.

I have a '79 201 J and am located in SW Michigan. That not withstanding, I have no qualms about making some visits to events south of the Mason Dixon since I have discovered an allergy to Michigan winters!

Just an old Mooney driver looking for some one to fly around with.

Best to all,

Capt. "T"

Update your avatar data...

And we can talk Mooney Summit in FL.... or Mooney Max in TX... or Mooney ..... in some other warm place in winter... :)

The search function is your friend...

find a regional fly-in in your area... or not in your area...

Best regards,

-a-

There is a Labor Day party at 6Y9 in the UP.  You might think about going, though you'd best be on your A game, that strip is short, turf and occluded.  You'll meet lots of pilots, and at least one other Mooney. Two, if I can get my hump up there, but it is a long way.

I am on the same airport as the guy that owns that airport, building a Onex with him in my hangar! Watch some progress on it here,

Don't know that I will make that one, my idea of camping anymore is the Holiday Inn! Thanks for the heads up!

Sonex is slowly coming together. Outboard wings are closed out, all controll surfaces are done, rigging to the tail is done, inboard wing stubs are fitted but not closed out. Waiting on delivery of the engine and the remainder of the instruments so we can move on. We are at one of those, "can't put this in until we have that, can't close this out unless we route that first and we don't know where to route that because the engine isn't here yet. Kinda stalled. Once the remainder of the goddies get here we can get moving again.

Big  shin-dig up there in the north country . . . hope you make it. I may get there but probably will land at Land o Lakes and have someone pick me up if I go. That sod stuff is scary to me, I spent a good chunk of change getting the tanks sealed, would hate to pop something loose again!

Hang in,

There's another guy who flies his Mooney into that.  I've decided that if he can do it I can do it.  The turf stuff scares me too, but I've landed that strip and its pretty good.  I really hope Brad didn't buy himself one of those Volkswagen engines.  There have been a lot of failures, including one that killed the son of the founder.

I want to get up there, but I'm yet still a VFR pilot, and the UP is a long way to go VFR.  We'll see.

Another Mooney buddy, Bill from 9D9 also I think. He went a couple of years ago, said he probably wouldn't go in there again. C models don't have the inner gear doors hangning so close to the turf as the J's do. Columbus isn't that far, just a nice ride.

I don't know @steingar , seems I just heard there's a TFR going on in the U.P., prohibiting Ohio guys from flying up here that weekend.  LOL
