Some Typical things that can cause oil to show up in a cylinder....

1) oil control ring wear or broken....

2) Valve guide wear...

3) cylinder wall wear...

4) The hint... it happens overnight while not operating and clears up after running a bit...

5) Curing the symptom... using fine wire plugs is better than the alternative, but doesn’t solve the issue.

Things you can possibly do to help identify the issue...

1) got a pic of the oil soaked plug?

2) Got a dental cam pic of oil dripping off the valve?

2a) valve pic that shows uniform pizza image would be good...

2b) valve wobble test sounds like something that would indicate wear of the guide...

2c) cleaning/Reaming the valve guide is something to consider as something to do while in there...

3) pics of the cylinder walls should show some pretty good proof that all is well with the cross-hatch pattern.

4) got a video of the start-up? Do you get a wisp of white smoke when it first starts up?

Consult your mechanic with ideas... to see what order of maintenance makes sense...

300 hours on the cylinder isn’t usual for wear issues...

PP thinking out loud, not a mechanic...

JPI data mostly worthless (probable bad ground, being looked at by same A&P).

Bendix S4LN-200 mags, IRAN’d 21 hours ago (early November), everything else (plugs, p-leads, wires, harnesses, etc) replaced at the same time.

Did they list what was replaced on the Mag IRAN?

Probably, but I didn't get a copy. Don't get me started on that nightmare... I'm still uncovering things that I was told were done, that weren't, and a frustrating lack of documentation and overlapping statements of work, etc.

Okay, A&P swapped the fine wire plugs to the top, and installed Champion REM37BY spark plugs in the bottom. Fires right up and mag checks are smooth, both mags. So far so good.

Fresh plugs, no oil on them... sounds like you are onto something...

See if the problem returns... over time... or over a number of flights...

PP thoughts only, not a mechanic.
