I remember some time ago seeing an add for replacement doghouse sheet metal. I think the company was based in Alaska but can't be sure. Anyway with all the discussion about cowling mods and CHT I'm thinking I might want to fix mine up. I know it's not in the worst shape but might be nice to pull the temps down a bit. Right now I go just a bit over 400 in climb and usually settle down to about 370 in cruise. Not terribly high but could be better. Any leads on who is selling these parts would be appreciated.

I see they do some Mooney baffles, but I do not see doghouse parts . . . .

Is it possible to convert to a set of baffles?

Parts can be repaired, but at some point you need new parts.

The new Vintage cowl gets rid of the doghouse. But sadly, it also gets rid of the large, easily removable cheeks, making a 2-piece fiberglass cowl like I read so many questions about removing and installing by yourself . . . . And it will have only one oil door on top instead of one on each side like I have now.

As everything else in aviation, it's a tradeoff.

Cheek panels are nice...

had the cowling off the O this week.  Challenging to get on and off with two people...

Only wanted to access behind what a cheek panel would have done...

:)
