Sandel troubles

I have been having trouble with my Sandel. I am getting an intermittent Gyro failure. When this happens I must disconnect the auto pilot or the plane makes wild gyrations as it tries to follow a rapidly precessing heading indicator. Sometimes I need to reset the circuit breaker to get The Sandel back online. Sometimes I just press the ACK button to get it to reset.

 

Any idea about what is going on?

Does anybody except Sandel make a solid state replacement for a K102?

The KG102 is a solid gyro that runs trouble free for thousands of hours.  Just get another good serviceable one and roll on

Mid Continent makes one too, I believe. Expensive, and uncommon on the used market.
