I wonder what a beautiful paint job like yours would now cost at hawk - and the others. 14.5 is for white and a stripe.

After owning 79H for almost 10 years, she will finally be headed in for paint mid-late January 2020. @Hawk of course. Happy to pay the extra cash for quality. I’m super excited!

My plane was picked up at Hawk 14 months ago. The work was quoted in about Jan. 2018. Joe was already higher than 10,500. I think I was quoted 12.5 and paid a few hundred more to smooth the cowl which was pretty rough after stripping and removal of old filler.

I still get enough “prettiest Mooney I’ve ever seen” to make me feel I went to the right shop.

You might be able to find a few pics around here...

Not disagreeing with anything you said but that plane looks like it’s 70 percent bondo. Might be why they got carried away wit the power sander.

The market has spoken that a paint job from Hawk is worth $14,500 right now.

A lot of forces are at play...

- Hawk's increased overhead

- Strong economy

- pilot training boom has created a thin market for older planes.  Flight schools buy and then paint.

- paint shop capacity is low right now...charge accordingly.

Good for them.  The paint job on N252BH was $8800 back in 2012 and I'm sure it still looks as good as new.

Keep in mind you won't have to pay sales tax on the paint job in Florida.
