Jerry 5TJ Posted May 23, 2018 Report Posted May 23, 2018 The average buyer is uplifting hundreds of gallons. Of JetA. Quote
Skates97 Posted August 1, 2018 Report Posted August 1, 2018 Not "high" fees but new fees that weren't posted online. Flew into U42, South Valley Regional, in Salt Lake last week. I have been there numerous times before and if you bought any gas at all there were no ramp fees. I found out when I saw the charge on my credit card that had changed. They now charge $10/day if you are there more than 4 hours regardless of whether you buy any fuel from them or not. Had I known I wouldn't have bought 34 gallons from them and have just gotten what I needed to fill up at a cheaper place en-route home. The folks I talked to on the phone at the FBO when I was trying to make sense of the charge which was much higher than the amount of fuel my plane would have held were nice enough. (I left before they were open so didn't have a receipt showing what the charges were.) Apparently new management put new rules in place. I asked if they had the fees posted somewhere that I missed and was told they have a little sign on the desk but "I guess we should also tell people." I said that would probably save them from an irate customer at the desk. They also said they were going to update Airnav and Flightaware because they weren't listing the new fees online (which have been in place for months apparently). Quote

Thanks for that. I am planning a trip to SLC, and was considering U42. There certainly are other options, and 30 min drive to save such ridiculous fees is no problem. Will have to check what FBOs at SLC are charging, as well as Bountiful. Quote

There are other options and depending on whom I am visiting I will go into either Skypark KBTF or Spanish Fork U77 in the future. Neither one charges and ramp fees or overnight parking if you purchase fuel and their fuel is less expensive than U42. I have not been into KBTF but I have flown into U77 and it is a nice little airport. They have tie down spots but did not have tie down straps or chains, however the gentleman there let me borrow some while I was there. It is a friendly airport and they are happy to have you there. They also say they have a crew car on a first come first served basis. If you do decide to go into U42 their fuel is the same price for both self service and full service. Quote
amillet Posted August 4, 2018 Report Posted August 4, 2018 My “fond” memories of U42 include climbing over the chain link fence to get out of the airport after arriving at 9:00 pm back in 2001 or so. It was SLC#2 back then. Quote
