Z00mie Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) Howdy Lads/Lasses! New guy here. Retired military with 29 years 4 months and 14 days, but who's counting, right? I am/was was an Air traffic Controller, working Tower and Radar in both Military and Civilian facilities and flight instructed on the side for awhile as well. I'm in S Carolina with an 1966 M20E. It is a former Bendix King airplane that was sold off with tons of hours on the airframe but has great hours remaining on everything else. The radios are all circa late 1990's. Electronic HSI, S-Tec 50, KLN-94B, TIS, XM, StormScope, Radar Alt. MFD but nooo WAAS!!! Waaaah, right? Anyway it makes a good solid IFR platform (for now) and gets me and my better half around pretty reliably. Anyway, I just wanted to say howdy and thank you for your patience in advance as I figure out the do's and don'ts of the site and pump you folks for info! If on the other hand you need assistance or help with general debauchery US or otherwise, well I'd be pleased to assist. Edited November 29, 2016 by Z00mie 3 Quote
Hank Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 Good to meet you, Z00mie! Put your location in your avatar, and we may share hangar flying and general debauchery in person, along with a refreshing cool drink when the flying is done. I pass over SC going to the beach in NC, my inlaws at KFAY and land at 33A just inside SC to visit my folks a few miles away, just barely in NC. Have friends in Charleston I've been trying to get over to see but weather keeps getting in the way! I don't fight large offshore systems . . . Quote
Mooneymite Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) Hello Z00mie from neighboring Georgia! Glad to have another "Mooney Spacer" to bring knowlege and experience into the mix. If you get up toward Atlanta, stop by and say, "hello". Incidentally, while "Gents" certainly fits the majority of us, we have members of the "opposite sex" in our group who add much to our community. Edited November 23, 2016 by Mooneymite Quote
Z00mie Posted November 23, 2016 Author Report Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) Mooneymite, Ahh yes, poor choice of words. Apologies. Fixed. Hank, I'm at KGYH. Nice to meet you all! Edited November 23, 2016 by Z00mie Quote

Which tower are you presently working, or are you working in a radar facility? I hope I don't have to be a general to get assistance in debauchery! I was only a lieutenant, but still fairly proficient. Quote
Bob_Belville Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 ZOOmie, I have a M20E ('66) based @ KMRN Foothills Regional, not very far north of you. AGL Aviation is a MSC here which might come in handy for you sometime. Bob Quote
bonal Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 Yes welcome, and as always pictures please of your Mooney Quote
Z00mie Posted November 23, 2016 Author Report Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) Thanks Bob! I didn't know that. Mooneymite I'm on sabbatical (read jobless) at the moment (you know its bad when they pay you to NOT come back!). I'll possibly end up at one of the local contract facilities. However a military bud is looking for controllers in A-stan. I'm not certain I'm safety wired for non-military, military work though... Photos? Do they have to be hosted elsewhere or does this site do that? Edited November 23, 2016 by Z00mie Quote
Mooneymite Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 Just now, Z00mie said: Photos? Do they have to be hosted elsewhere or does this site do that? You can up-load them right here....unless your name is Marauder and you like fat chicks. (You'll understand soon enough.) 2 Quote
carusoam Posted November 24, 2016 Report Posted November 24, 2016 Welcome aboard aboard Z00mie. This is a great place to make contacts. We have a few people in the ATC business around here... and a few pilots either in or back from the sandy countries. Best regards, -a- Quote

Oldguy Posted November 28, 2016 Report Posted November 28, 2016 Z00mie, Flew right by you T-day on my way into KGMU for a visit to the in-laws. Not too smoky that day. I also have a "demo" plane but from L-3/BFG. If yours was maintained as well as mine was, you are absolutely correct in still having a bunch of hours left. Welcome aboard! Quote
Z00mie Posted November 29, 2016 Author Report Posted November 29, 2016 Attached an A/C photo in the intro! Quote
Hank Posted November 29, 2016 Report Posted November 29, 2016 Nice looking plane. The white is really, really white! I also noticed that, like my plane, someone nicely moved the forward antenna back behind where the canopy cover goes on, and put the GPS puck there. Sure makes it easy to cover and uncover when traveling! Quote
Mcstealth Posted November 29, 2016 Report Posted November 29, 2016 (edited) Welcome. Thank you for your service. Two rules. Don't poke Marauder or Nobody. Don't ask if bladders are better. Edited November 29, 2016 by Mcstealth Quote
NotarPilot Posted November 29, 2016 Report Posted November 29, 2016 ...but feel free to ask about LOP and ROP operations. 2 Quote
Marauder Posted November 29, 2016 Report Posted November 29, 2016 Welcome to the site! Don't believe everything you read about me. Just trying to keep everyone in line, lest they see my HEAVY handed response. And I already got my eye on a couple of them on this thread.Love to see a picture of that panel. Love to see what BK did in their prime.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 1 Quote
