Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the volume of the stall horn?  I don't know if it's my advancing age or what but it seems like I'm not hearing it lately.  I was doing stalls the other day during a BFR and it wasn't loud enough that it would grab my attention if I even got into an inadvertent stall.

I believe it is an on/off mechanism...  The way to check for a volume knob is the wiring diagram that is resident in your POH.

The way to test it would be while on the ground.  Turn on the master, raise the stall warning vane.  It should be audible from the wing where you are standing.

Both the stall warning and the gear up warning are small piezo electric horns.  Not much to go wrong with them.  Getting access to them may be a pain.  They are probably hiding in the ceiling up by the vents. A small amount of oxidation may be a problem.  They are low cost devices if you need to swap in a new one.

Newer than early 90's Mooneys have a different stall warning sound.  More of a tone than the piezo buzzer...  Less scary sounding.

PP thoughts, not a mechanic.

Best regards,

I installed a voice alert activated by the existing gear and stall warning circuits. I think it is one of the best "bang for the buck" purchases I ever made. My avionics guys wired it into my headset wiring. You can't miss it or confuse gear for stall.

Don't you just love it when I don't answer the question asked, but offer advise anyway.
