June 17-19 Mooney Ambassador, Columbia CA, O22 Annual Father’s Day Fly-In and Camp out. From June 17th to 19th Columbia Airport will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee, the 50th annual Father’s Day Fly-In. The Columbia Father’s Day Fly-In attracts thousands of spectators from near and far and most importantly draws the community together in support of aviation and the area at large. The Fathers Day Fly-In weekend delights both the young and old, brings inspiration to all and sparks memories in those who have attended the fly-in over the years as well as those who served our country. Pilots look forward to bringing their beautiful, historic aircraft to our friendly and fun airport. Families look forward to attending a family friendly event complete with children’s activities and live music. The event will host plane demonstrations, static displays, plane/car races, and much more! Sponsored by the Columbia Airport. Point Person: Jolie Lucas. The Moo Pool will be out. I would like one more airplane on display with Maggie, and the rest of the Mooneys can park in the campground. We will have a Mooney camp in the Fly-In campground.. Come and enjoy the fun.

is there going to be any paved parking areas for those of us too scared to taxi on the grass/dirt there at Columbia?

If you want to be the #2 display plane you can park right on the asphalt with me!  There is other parking on the ramp.  The dirt taxiway is really a non-issue, but I get it. Come join the fun!

I was there this weekend for the Luscombe fly in. Absolutely beautiful place. Was "Always" filmed there? Landed just before a cell came thru, it was an hour before sunset. Started raining, didn't feel like walking down a wet runway. The guys were probably already enjoying their adult beverages.

cool place, I'll try to make it.

It really does look like the "Always" airport, but I checked IMDB and it says "Always" was filmed at Libby, MT.

For those joining me at the Columbia CA [O22) Father's Day Fly-In June 17-19 here is the website. There is pilot information and a volunteer form if you are so inclined. Some additions this year are the Fireman's BBQ in the campground on Friday night, as well as Movie Night on Friday in the campground. We have about six Mooneys coming. I would like one more Mooney on display with mine if you are interested. Our earliest arrivers will be there TH night to get Moo Camp staked out as usual.

I'm happy to report that Derrick Barrington won the spot landing contest and came in third place on the flower bombing.I'm happy to report that Derrick Barrington won the spot landing contest and came in third place on the flour bombing.
