I was looking for a reason to fly today without inhailing a $100 fatburger.  I then remembered that some corn mazes are pretty cool from the air.  Over the last 10 years, these have become very detailed due to GPS "auto pilots" on farm equipment.  Here is a great link that may add a sight for your passengers.

That is so damn cool! They have lots of farms out here and plenty of corn, but nobody does that here. I wish I could come accross that kind of thing while flying over the San Juaquin valley!

Now that is crazy cool. There are plenty around Georgia and we're just getting into the prime season so I'm going to have to check these out. Part of the fun will be finding them.

Too bad for our friends in Hawaii...I notice they have none. Perhaps they need a pineapple maze!

Well, we had a beautiful day on Saturday and I was able to seek out a corn maze to get some pics. For anybody in north Georgia, there is one that sits literally a mile off the end of the runway at KOPN so it's easy to find. Unfortunately it's kinda' small, and worse, this particular photographer turned out to be mediocre at best. Probably needed to be lower but I didn't want to buzz the crowd.

Anyway, the quest was fun, so maybe I'll try again next weekend on something bigger.

One of my favorite scenes from the air was near Laramie Wyoming. I was on a cross country flight from Cheyenne, Wyoming (KCYS) to Bakersfield, Ca (KBFL) and shortly after crossing some hills west of Cheyenne, the scene looked fantastic. It looked unreal and like something you would see in a painting. It must have been the time of the year and light conditions. I don't remember ever seeing something that was that beautiful from the air.
