Heybluez Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 I have the original Mooney paint numbers: Base graystone 570-579 Dark Charcoal 579-603 Burgandy Red 576-542 Where can I get some touch up paint? Thx! MJP Quote
Yetti Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 Those look like Enmar paint codes. I just tried to get a Enmar paint code matched at the PPG auto finish store. Because they did not have a airplane listing book there was no cross reference. And google Fu does not show for Enmar. They suggested doing a paint match. So pull the battery cover or a cowl side and take it in. Quote
LANCECASPER Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 If it's standard PPG colors: http://www.aerotouchups.com/ Quote
aviatoreb Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 My paint is not original. Its a complex metal flaked hunter green. But I took off an inspection panel and brought it to a local auto supply store that has paint matching computer ability and they custom mixed a batch of perfectly matching touch-up. It was quite inexpensive since all things auto are much less expensive than all things airplane. 1 Quote
jetdriven Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 +1 to Erik. You cannot match paint codes without the computer scanner. From the looks of many airplanes I see, most airplane mechanics don't know that. 1 Quote
RLCarter Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 Most of the bigger body shops mix their own paint, be sure who ever mixes it that you want a single shot paint, all the new stuff is base coat clear coat which you will be able to see the touch up Quote
carusoam Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 Take one of your access panels with all the stripes on it to the body shop. Let them know what year the paint is from. Somewhere along the way, the paint chemistry changed. They should be able to get it right. There are paint codes in the parts manuals or MM. They might also be in your logs... I went this route for my old C to get the paint codes then went with spray cans for small spots... Best regards, -a- Quote
