Hello Guys, I have a Mooney Ovation that spent a majority of its early life in El Salvador. Im looking at getting the Logbooks translated to English. Any ideas on where that I can get this done?

Try the language department at local university or college... I've got several old German letters translated by a prof that way and reasonable.  One way to make it cheaper is to have them translate to audio, then you type up the english.

This plane had an N number while down there? Otherwise I would expect the logs to have been translated as part of issuing a US Airworthiness certificate after being brought back.

If you just want to know what it says you can download the Google translate app on your phone and use the camera. Point the camera at the text and it will show it in English on the screen. Amazing I've used it many times very successfully.

I wonder what type of certification of the translation the FAA will want if the translation is used to show compliance with AD's etc. The translator won't be signing for the work but is the one stating what work was done.

With most legal documents there are people who are certified to do translations (common of marriage certificates, birth certificates). Would the FAA require the same type of certification?

actually interesting. I faced a similar problem when I arrived here and had my first annual. I raised the issue and they said that it was valid... I insisted in having the entries in English given that it had a N number. They accepted it and now everything is in "sort of " english.
