skyking1 Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Still can't find the problem after many different inputs and a&p's! Any screaming eagle owners have a similar problem? Quote
Guest Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Any chance they installed Cessna parts? That would do it! Clarence Quote
ArtVandelay Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Any mag work? Maybe timing is not quite right? New air filter, restriction in the air intake? Go up and compare performance numbers vs POH at high power and low power settings, including fuel flow, airspeed. Could be instrument error, maybe a leak, which would be more at higher speeds. Quote
kmyfm20s Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 I just completed the formation clinic in Yuma AZ this last weekend. I was amazed the difference in various planes indicated air speeds when flying straight and level together. My plane was indicating that I was 7 kts slower at the same airspeed. One plane was indicating 17 kts faster than mine. I had the only long body in the clinic. I would almost guarantee it is something in the pitot satatic system with your plane. Go do a 3 way speed test and see if you can't verify speeds or fly next to someone and compare indicated air speeds. 1 Quote
aviatoreb Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 I recently had an EDM830 installed including MP. It turns out according to my avionics shop that there was a small error in my analogue oem MP indicator (which I still have installed). So the whole time I have owned this airplane, I have been operating at 1'' lower MP than I thought. I.e, if book says 30'' and 2200rpm is 65% then I was actually operating 29''...so I thought my airplane was a bit slower than book due to tks...but now with actually setting book power settings, then I am quite a bit closer to book than I realized. Still a tad slow - I blame the tks - but not a lot slow. 1 Quote
Piloto Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Verify the static alternate air valve is not open. José 1 Quote
aviatoreb Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Verify the static alternate air valve is not open. José Is that for skyking1? Or me. Say more what you are thinking please.... Quote
Piloto Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Is that for skyking1? Or me. Say more what you are thinking please.... For SkyKing1. The airspeed indicator is connected to the pitot tube and static air lines. If the alternate static valve is open it will vent to whatever pressure is in the cabin thus reducing/increasing the indicated airspeed. José Quote
Hank Posted April 4, 2015 Report Posted April 4, 2015 Still a tad slow - I blame the tks - but not a lot slow. C'mon, Erik!! "Slow" does not belong in the same sentence as "Rocket"!! Trust me, you aren't slow. That would be me. Quote
M20S Driver Posted April 5, 2015 Report Posted April 5, 2015 Still can't find the problem after many different inputs and a&p's! Any screaming eagle owners have a similar problem? At 3200 lb gross weight, 8500 feet, 2500 RPM and 50-70 deg ROP, WOT, fly N-W-S-E and record the GPS speed and average it. My screaming Eagle gives me 179-181 knots depending on the temperature outside. If you are getting 10 knots less than this, then you have a problem. 1 Quote

Its kick butt. Still http://www.rocketengineering.com/sites/all/docs/305Rocket.pdf if I am 3 knots slow....gotta blame the tks panels. Quote
