N6758N Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Anybody used this site before to purchase aircraft parts? I am looking to replace my gear biscuits and they have the lowest price I have seen so far ($102.95), cheaper than I can get them through the maintenance shop I work in. Just wanted some opinions for you guys before I blindly send them $1,100 for some pieces of rubber. Thanks! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
N601RX Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 I purchased some prc from them last year. The shipping was slow, but ok otherwise. Quote
Cruiser Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 I also purchased parts from them. I had issues with every purchase. Nothing serious, just irritating. I believe that they sometimes do not have the stock and have to order it first before they can send it to you. ONLY MY OPINION. If you are patient and don't mind a little irritation, they do have very low prices. Quote
carusoam Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Definitely call in advance. There are a couple of warehouses-type supply companies said to use this quirky technique. You order first. They order the parts. Confusion ensues when the delivery takes so long.... Probably a really good CB project! Get the right part at a low price, and get them delivered... Best regards, -a- Quote
DonMuncy Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 I don't know these folks, but typically, the ones with the really low prices are able to sell low by not having a warehouse or any inventory. You order, they call the manufacturer/supplier and tell them to drop ship to you. The problems usually occur when their supplier doesn't have it in stock, and nobody calls you; you just wait. They have already been paid and you are afraid that if you try to cancel, you may never see a refund. This is just the risk one takes to get a good price. As opposed to paying more to someone who has it, or will openly tell you when you can expect it. Quote
Sabremech Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 When I replaced mine last year, I purchased them from Aviall and they were under $1000 for all three gear. They had them in stock and I received them in 3 days. David Quote
isaacpr7 Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 Ebay has new ones listed for 100 bucks all the time. Quote
N6758N Posted February 8, 2015 Author Report Posted February 8, 2015 David, I might give Aviall a call on Monday. I am trying to wait until spring to do the gear so I can take everything out and paint it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
N6758N Posted March 4, 2015 Author Report Posted March 4, 2015 Ended up using this website, had them shipped to work and they showed up only 4 days after I placed my order! On another note, does anyone on here have the tools to compress the gear biscuits for removing them? I'd like to rent them for a week or two. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Hank Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 I used www.hangartoolbox.com when I did mine a year ago. Called to get them the day after they shipped out to someone else . . . Nothing like timing, right? Quote
ryoder Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 Plane plastics drop ships glass from LP aero and that went through well so drop shipping isn't always fraught with peril. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Give Dennis Glick over at Dutchland a call and see if he will loan you his. Tell him I sent you. Offer to rent them, he might just let you borrow them or then again, he may charge you twice as much to rent them because I sent you there! Quote
