Parker_Woodruff Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 Got the airplane back today. Pablo at Aero Comfort is a real professional. It's beautiful. Don Maxwell did the install while I had another squawk taken care of. (Plane went in for a new bearing on the rudder linkage and came out with a new interior). Photos are from on the way home with my Cell phone (slightly bad quality & distortion). when I get the good camera out I'll update them...prolly tomorrow. And yes, the New Airplane Smell was included. Quote
HopePilot Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 Holy cannoli that's beautiful Parker! I can't believe the attention to detail and the stitching! Goes to corner and meditates, "Must not spend more on plane this month. Must not spend more on plane this month. Must not spend more on plane this month..." Quote
GeorgePerry Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 You have the nicest J I've ever seen...and the new interior takes it to a whole new level! WOW! Quote
hansel Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 I've had a few items from Aero Comfort (as have others on this forum). Good product, good service, good price. Highly recommended. Quote
Jeff_S Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 Very nice look, Parker. You're getting that AT all fixed up. As a fellow AT owner I am following your exploits closely. Mind if I ask how much the AeroComfort installation cost? Quote
Piloto Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 Congratulations it definetly looks better than factory new. I love what you did with the panel. José Quote

docket Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 Parker, I left mine with Don for an annual. I saw your interior and it looks awesome. The only bad news is that I saw your yokes and I told Don that I need a pair. I wish you would have picked the plane up before I got there. Quote
DaV8or Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 Looks awsome! What's next? Paint? Turbo? I have a feeling you can't just stop. Quote
231Pilot Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 Really nice. I am envious. I guess you can never sell her now...with all the recent upgrades you would take a beating on your investment....so you get the BEST return on your dollar, you get to fly an incredible airplane. Congratulations! Quote

Geoff Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 Hey Parker, really great looking interior. Did you have them put the Comfor foam in the pilot seat? How is the lumbar support? Quote

unicom Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 Hi guys, The idea to start with, was to refurbish the interior which was getting a little old... Most of the plastics were cracked, the carpet was worn out, the paint on the center post was gone and the glareshield was in very poor condition, same for the yokes. After 30 years, the foam of the seats covered with a blue fabric needed to be replaced as well... As far as instruments, I wanted an EDM 700 to be installed for better monitoring of the engine parameters. One thing that bothered me as well was the rear bench. I wanted this to be replaced by 2 separate folding seats giving the possibility for extra cargo space when needed (very convenient when you carry 2 folding bikes). This last item requires a very good knowledge of the aircraft. I reviewed the options in Europe first with the Mooney service centers but I came to the conclusion that most likely the Mooney Factory in Kerville would be the best place to take care of my aircraft. I discussed a few points over the phone with Brian Kendrick and after a fantastic journey, across Scotland (Wick), Iceland (Reykjavik), Greeland (Kangerlussuaq) and northern Canada (Iqualuit), I finally managed to reach Kerville home of Mooney :-) I had given Brian a month to refurbish the interior, install the EDM 700 and to complete a thorough inspection of the aircraft. In the mean time I was back to France waiting for Brian's feedback. He came back to me a week later with a 13 pages list of items to consider classified in: - Airframe recommended- Airworthy airframe- Airworthy engine- Engine recommended- Avionics recommended- Customer request I decided to go for most of it. Some items were AD's resulting in potential lower maintenance cost (e.g 100hrs inspection), some were cosmetics, some where kit improvements. The idea was to have the aircraft upgraded to "actual" production standard...so to speak. In that respect Mooney had done a great shop and although there is a price for it (and it is not cheap), I have the feeling I am flying a new very dependable aircraft. At no time during the long hours over the ocean, I was worried that the aircraft could let me done. All I can say is I will come back... The interior refurbishement itself has been carried out by Aero Comfort. I just wanted to share the pictures with you as the work accomplished is just breathtaking. Quote
