scottfromiowa Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 O.K. Re-reading and laughing...at myself. Mr. Serious today I guess...Probably still mad and tired because I had to drive to Osh instead of flying because Saturday weather was the complete opposite of forecast. Had some lemonade at MAPA so I have no excuse for myself today. Quote
RJBrown Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 A prop strike once repaired is a non event as far as future value is concerned. All it involves is the prop and the engine and they usually get fixed better than before. A gear up landing is usually fairly minor from a long term standpoint. In fact most gear ups end up increasing the value. A "normal" gear up where the wings are untouched only damages those items that get replaced. The prop gets new blades and an O/H. Engine gets attention that ranges from a bit of a freshen up to a complete O/H Belly get a one piece upgrade. cowl get repair or replace. nose gear doors new. Any antennaes touched are now new. Though both the Mooneys I have owned never had a gear up it is not something that would cause me to write off considering buying a plane. I know of a Mooney (N305**) that had 4 gear ups before he quit flying it. He got the heavy duty one piece belly with what looks like runners the first time and after that all that got damaged was the prop and the paint the next 3 times. Quote
ATB Posted August 4, 2010 Author Report Posted August 4, 2010 Did I read the initial ad wrong, or did the price just go up by $12k? Now listed at $79.9k http://www.controller.com/listingsdetail/aircraft-for-sale/MOONEY-M20F/1968-MOONEY-M20F/1174534.htm Quote
Qwalton Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 That's an interesting strategy, the plane doesn't sell so they raise the price. Quote
KSMooniac Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 I heard this weekend he had a deposit on it already, with 4 or 5 others trying to give him money... Quote
ATB Posted August 6, 2010 Author Report Posted August 6, 2010 Higher price must have been a way to reduce the call volume but keep the info up for the folks in line Quote
