since I have two sets of working radios, can I say that my panel is nicer than yours? :D

Almost. :) I actually have a loaner radio in the #2 slot. But it is not as nice as mine.

Your Narco may have the squelch setting too sensitive. Try adjusting the squelch setting.

José

I'll send you a PM of what it was doing. That all changed and now it won't transmit at all.

Just a quick update on this Cheap Bast$&d's situation. I received a call from the avionics shop Timpercarpio sent me. Well, them there boys called and told me they found the problem.

Apparently, somewhere along the way while my panel was being worked on, a sliver of metal got into the radio and had shorted to ground one of the pins on the modulation circuit. Total repair $285 plus shipping. I'm a happy camper because it will keep me as your Commander and Cheap of the CB Club.

Tim -- can't thank you enough for the lead on these guys!

We have another hour's work to do (after about 5 hours this afternoon) on the install of the CYA100 AOA. The display is the narrow column of 9 led's above and between the ASI and the Aspen. the probe is on the right wing symmetric with the pitot on the left wing.

Hope to fly tomorrow. Calibration should be very simple.

Bob, Your panel guy has some skills...

Best regards,

-a-

Agreed, and it looks just as neat behind the panel. But my A&P, with my help(?), is installing the CYA100.

Bob -- did you run a separate breaker to it? I still haven't calibrated mine!

When we left @ 5:00 we lacked drilling a hole for the 1 amp CB, and connecting the program button to ground. I'm trying to decide what to do with the optional audio alarm. Wiring it into the GMA340 will be much more complicated than going directly to the jack for the pilot headset.

The CB will be beside the Auto pilot, above the gear warn CBs.

Installation of the CYA100 completed except for the calibration flight. (It was too windy today for any precision flying to set the limits of the light array. When I can take it up I'll set  the top green light @ ~ 90kts and the bottom red light @ just above stall, what ever that turns out to actually be.)

Here's a couple of better shots of the probe. My mechanic and I are very impressed with the kit.

You calibrate it yet?

Not yet, waiting for a calm day, but it should be very easy. We installed the temporary programming button, included. I'll click it once to set the top light ~90 kts. then set up landing mode. gear, flaps down and click again just above stall horn. That's it.

If necessary it can be changed as many times as necessary.

Stay tuned...

I was all gun ho on calibrating mine until I figured out that my mechanic wired it directly to the master buss. Makes it hard for calibrating having to shut the master off to engage the calibration mode.

Let us know how it goes...

Mine is wired through a 1 amp CB so all I have to do is recycle the breaker. He shouda followed the instructions.

I'm going to take it up later today. Hopefully there will be someone around to go up and push the button while I slow fly it. If not I think I can get it pretty close alone.

Well... I did not get it started. I keep heat on the engine compartment but the battery, a Gill I had to buy in an emergency last summer, was ice cold and couldn't quite get it going. It's supposed to be warmer, I left the battery on charge and tomorrow should be another day. I had not flown in almost a month and this sorry Gill doesn't hold a charge like the 7 year old Concorde did.

Well that stinks! My 10 year old Concorde is still going strong but with the cold snap we have coming through the northeast, I put the overpriced but highly cool looking Concorde specific charger on it. I will be trying to get out tomorrow morning before the snow blows in the afternoon. Today was pretty blustery around here and it never got above 25F at my house. Looks like single digits tonight.

As you know, I have family in MA, NH, ME. (My wife's mother is with us this winter but my daughter and Nancy's 2 brothers and their families are shoveling.) It has been a real wing dinger of a winter so far and it's not over. Pic is Nancy's brother's driveway in Bristol ME.

Chris,

Sounds like you need a new mechanic! I know a guy.
