N601RX Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 Interesting article about Disney No Fly zone. http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2003-05-11/news/0305110293_1_walt-disney-disney-world-no-fly-zones Quote
kevinw Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 I read a similar article today on foxnews.com. Sounds like they don't want banners towed over their precious theme parks. Time to lift these bans. 1 Quote
Danb Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 Anything for Minnie Micky. Not to mention Goofy I mean Barack oops. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 Why are we talking about an 11 year old article? I remember after 9-11 the NFL was so happy that there would be no banner towers over their games. But then they said they had to fly their helicopters and blimps over the games so the FAA put a wavier process in place. The first ones to get a wavier were the banner towers. Quote
chrisk Posted November 15, 2014 Report Posted November 15, 2014 I think a repeal is long over due. Sadly,it will take an act of congress. Quote
NotarPilot Posted November 15, 2014 Report Posted November 15, 2014 TFRs for sale to the highest bidder! Of the dozens of theme parks across this great nation only two can afford the TFRs. I guess the terrorists only have their sights on mice and not bunnies. Quote
Bob - S50 Posted November 15, 2014 Report Posted November 15, 2014 I guess I don't understand what Temporary means (Temporary Flight Restriction). Shouldn't they rename the Disney restriction a PFR (Permanent FR)? Bob 1 Quote
NotarPilot Posted November 22, 2014 Report Posted November 22, 2014 Making it a restricted area would make more sense. I always thought temporary meant, well temporary. Quote
Hank Posted November 22, 2014 Report Posted November 22, 2014 Making it a restricted area would make more sense. I always thought temporary meant, well temporary. Funny, what makes sense to me is for it to become "normal" airspace again. What about Disneyworld involves the security of our country? Put restrictions over every theme park, crowded lake, public beach, county fair and produce market, it would be about impossible to fly! Quote

You are forgetting the small children that are endangered. Orlando Approach sent me straight through the TFR one time. I was worried, but under their watch/under their orders it is ok. Quote
NotarPilot Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 Oh, I agree that it should be returned to normal unrestricted airspace. I was only saying if it's not going to be temporary then let's call it what it essentially is... Restricted airspace. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 So that means there will be planes flying banners? I assume they will have to maintain 1500 ft since that area is populated, isn't that a little high for banner planes? Quote

There was a scattered to broken layer over the airport but to the west was clear, so it was a great! Nice views. -Seth Quote
