Broken guitar strings work well, too, especially the thin steel ones that aren't wrapped. Also works for removing ugly towel rack fixtures installed by the builder with silicone adhesive.

Is it a stupid idea to want a rear view camera with a display in the cockpit? I miss being able to see behind me like in a 172. Where would that get mounted and is it legal?

Ryoder,

You are getting to be more fun every day!

You want to see things get smaller in the rear-view camera? (Typical high tech Mooney guy thinking)

You want a reverse pitch prop to ease backing into the hangar?

What else would you see back there?

Best regards,

Reverse pitch prop would rock.

I was in my friends 182 the other day and enjoyed the view out the back as we left a beautiful airport amid tons of lakes. I also liked the view we taxied. I should install a flat panel tv in the hat rack and rig it to a rear view camera. I'll get a curved one.

As a former C150 owner I liked the rear view but it's really only needed to see who's catching up to overtake as you buzz along at 90 knots or 110 in the 172. It was kind of handy on departure to confirm you were maintaining runway heading as you corrected for cross winds

You could look back and see my Comanche overtaking your Mooney!

Clarence, speed is always nice, but I wouldn't trade fuel bills with you after landing . . . Your big V-8 has a few knots on my 4-banger, and many extra gallons per hour, to say nothing of overhaul costs.

Like everything else, it's all a tradeoff.

At least you work on Mooneys.  :P
