I had a Stec 55x with FD installed in my mooney (used, very good deal) M20C. I received the flight supplement and the POH from my mechanic... but I misplaced the flight supplement... (stupid me!) and i can not find it, I wonder if somebody had a copy that you could share with me.

In advance, thank you for your help!!!

Oscar- I seem to remember these are either serial number or model number specific. I can't find the Stec 55x STC for the M20C but that does not mean it does not exist. However there can't be many C models with an Stec 55x installed. I'd call the new owners of Stec ,Genesys Aerosystems, to see what they have to say. I do know there was an S-tec flight supplement on the Mooney site under documentation but I recall it was only for the long bodies. I have been going thru a similar search myself as I intend to upgrade my Stec 30 with an Stec 55x from an M20R and to be legal you must have the supplement.

If you call S-Tec I can tell you from experience what they are going to convey. All S-Tec autopilots must be installed by dealers if they are installed in certified aircraft, all S-Tec autopilots are stc'd specifically to each aircraft by serial number. If they have or you can provide proof the unit was installed by a dealer into a particular aircraft by serial number of aircraft then they will sell you any paperwork you need. If it was not installed by an authorized dealer, then you must buy an install kit from Cobham, they cost 1500$ and then you have to pay an authorized dealer to sign off the install. The dealer I dealt with wouldn't sign it off until he inspected and tested the unit. Was a big PITA, but I figured it was worthless unless I jumped through their hoops. I was also told it was illegal to use the unit and it must be labeled "INOP" unless the unit had the appropriate paperwork.

That was my experience dealing with Cobham, I guess if all the "I's" aren't dotted and "T's" crossed Cobham is liable so they're covering their a$$es, I guess I can't blame them for that. It's the world we live in now.

But S-Tec is no long owned by Cobham, The original S-Tec/Cobham principals bought it a few months ago. It is now Genesys Aerosystems and according to their news release a much more friendly general aviation company.

Has anyone talked with the "new" S-Tec" and are they really any different?

Oscar your dealer would have gotten the supplement for the unit from Stec when it was sent for recertification. it should be simple for him to request a copy from Stec even if he did not keep one himself.

Oscar... I brought my POH home and can scan it for you. There are several separate pages for each component (servos, ap system, trim system, etc). It's about 5 pages. Do you need all 5? And yes, obviously, it is SN specific to my a/c. Let me know Oscar.

Tom...working with Stec now. My avionics shop loves them and says they are changed.....I want to swap a System 50 for a 55X...send them both back, pay for the harnesses and have them re-certified. Sadly, their prices haven't changed and paths are only upward (upgrades only).

Thank you! I would need the 5 pages... Send it to my email please oavalle@gmail.com

I got a very good deal. A Cirrus driver upgraded to an Avendine and the avionics shop sold me his unit after recertifying it. They also redid the panel... Now the weather has been crappy so I have not been able to test fly the plane...
