I don't see any additional updates for his flight. It almost looks like FlightAware stops updating at the end of the chart! I thought Mike's flight showed him the whole way on FlightAware. Any idea what is going on?

The reason for the high altitude is to be able maintain VHF and radar contact as much as possible. Over the Gulf depending on the route ATC wants you high. Having a 20W com like the 530AW helps you keep in touch on these legs.

Hey guys we got in to Cozumel yesterday at 3:30. 2 hours of Mexican immigration stuff, flight plan closing opening ect lots of duplicate paper work. $140 for permit to fly in MX $27 fee for one passenger, (Ashley) . No one seemed to care about getting us though the process tell they found out I was departing again and for a playa del Cameron airport (8 miles away), an unlighted 2000ft concrete strip in the middle of town with obstacles. Needless to say I though the 250lbs of gear back in the plane (wedding dress and all) and was wheels up at 3 mins to official sunset! Landed Uneventfully and armed guards met the plane and went through the plane and every bag again (in the dark).

Enroute file fl190 in order to be above min fl180 required for IFR and because it appeared I'd be better taking the cross wind vs the 20kts on the nose down low and the extra time aloft was appealing too in case the prop stopped. The winds changed a bit and ground speed decreased so we descended to fl150 for remainder of flight. Fuel burn at fl190 was 7.5gph which was peak egt at 2700rpm and 146kts true. Going 80rop only got me 1-2 more knots but since I didn't adjust my cowl flap linkages to stay open about 1/2" I couldn't keep oil under 210 at ROP power settings. I'll adjust the cowl flaps before leaving.

Was pretty uneventfull trip and even saw a royal Caribbean cruise ship. The good folks in the flight deck of a American Airlines and west jet helped relay my reporting points.

Oh ya and when I landed I had 28gallons of fuel left on board.

Glad to know you made it Aaron, CONGRATULATIONS. A tip: if you are in need of oxygen try a Scuba dive shop with Nitrox capabilty. Nitrox mixture comes from two separate nitrogen and oxygen tanks at the shop. Just have yours fill with the oxygen tank, green one. They may ask for your diver certficate but a pilot certificate will do it. Here in Florida I pay $20 per fill.

Another tip, at least for many countries that I have visited by private aircraft, if you list your companion as passenger they will charge you a fee, so in the General Dec always indicate 2 crew (pilot and co-pilot).

That makes sense but he asked for my pilots certificate to show I was the pilot and recorded the number down.
