Well thanks to a tip here I finally found a good one and bought it!  It's a 66 E from southern AL.

Looked at it just after Xmas and made the deal a few days ago.  My buddy Tony picked it up and flew it to his home at Wichita 2 days ago.  Today he flew it to Marfa TX where he had a little glider modification job to attend to for our friend Burt at Marfa gliders.  Weather is crummy in Iowa so I told Tony to go ahead and save himself 15 hours of driving.  I know that drive and it's punishing.

He is reporting that the plane performs beautifully, 9gph at 147kts and everything works! (N9345M on Flightaware for recent trips, pic there is not this plane)

After months of searching, being frustrated, worried, and dreaming I'm starting to get excited!  I should be flying it in a few days.

Glad it worked out, hopefully he will be able to get it to you soon.

Very grateful for pointing me to Paul and John.  They were a pleasure to deal with and every indication is that the plane is as it should be.

I will soon be looking for something just like this, do you mind saying what it was listed and sold for?

My plane had originally been listed in the upper 50s I believe, perhaps lower 60s initially.  By the time I became aware of it the price was below $50k.

The final agreement between seller and buyer is really a very personal thing.  We get more emotionally and financially invested in our planes than maybe we should.  Out of respect for the seller it's probably bad form to announce publicly at this time.  The bottom line is that the so called market is one thing and what things actually sell for is another.  As I said on another thread it's not so much a buyers market as a buyers beware market.  Many of the planes for sale today have not been flown or maintained.  Many sellers still see their faithful steed in all it's glory, not realizing that all the "little things" they've compromised add up to junk.  If you find a plane that is in tip top operational condition it's probably not for sale.

That said, after personally looking at 8 different Mooneys, and considering many more, I do know of a couple that are in excellent condition and either are or will be for sale soon.   I flew an F owned by an acquaintance that is absolutely perfect and is going to be for sale soon if not already.  It is not yet advertised anywhere.  I also saw an amazing C in Oklahoma and may still have the contact info.  Both were out of my price range but not by far.

There is nothing like buying your own mooney! My wife and I bought ours in Seattle and had it flown to Wisconsin. I found a great instructor and now have over 100 hours in our m20e. Longest flight was to Tulsa Ok. We make little improvements all the time. It is great fun. I often just go to the airport to look at the plane. It will give you great pleasure. Congrats!

No, not mine. It was one that I knew about at the next airport over from me. I knew about it through a mutual friend of the owner.

Super congratulations on a campaign well fought! Victory! The E is the over looked jewel of the fleet. Looks to be nicely equipped.
