mike_elliott Posted December 6, 2013 Author Report Posted December 6, 2013 I am happy to say we are almost full. All of Dr. Dubin's donated condo's are spoken for and we have a couple of people on standby. If you would still like to attend, there are a few more seats available for the seminars and activities. If you need housing, contact Bridgett at 850-588-8667 ext 1, there are some condos available for the weekend at $176 and $202 for ocean view. If you do decide to attend, make sure you also email me at singmeupATaviating.com so that I can get you registered for the wings seminars and make sure credit is properly given for your attendance, along with knowing how to plan for your participation. I will post links to the FAASaftey.gov seminars once the Alabama FSDO approves my requests for the wings credits. Thanks everyone for your interest in the event. It has far surpassed my expectations and promises to be a great time for all.
rbridges Posted December 7, 2013 Report Posted December 7, 2013 Mike, would it be possible to see a list of the people who are planning to attend?
mike_elliott Posted December 9, 2013 Author Report Posted December 9, 2013 Robert, I plan to send everyone an email soon, and I personally dont have an issue with sharing the attendence roster. In fact, unless I hear Objections, I will. Let me email everyone and make sure each attendee is onboard with the idea first. I think it might help people possibly share cars etc. I can say we have 27 pilots registered now (a few on standby for condos) and many S.O's attending. We have reached the capacity of the Bamboo Theatre where the Seminars are being held. The FAA has given us the proper blessing for the wings events, and I am hoping for still yet another Mooney expert CFI to help with the flying workload. As it stands now, we cant possibly fly with all the attendee's. Fortunately not everyone has indicated they would like to have an IPC, or BFR or fly. We have some nice raffle prizes to announce soon from a few industry leading companies I am sure everyone will be excited about. More later!!! Mike
fantom Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 I don't want my name and data on an open internet list telling the world my home will available to uninvited guests, Mike. Hard pressed to find any other fly-in that mades such a list available to the world. Sorry
Marauder Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 I don't want my name and data on an open internet list telling the world my home will available to uninvited guests, Mike. Hard pressed to find any other fly-in that mades such a list available to the world. Sorry Darn! And I was looking forward to ransacking your house while you were out. Oh Well, I still have my brother-in-law's place to hit. He loves to post on FaceBook and Twitter those "I'm at the McDonald's in Shanghai" messages. 1
Marauder Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 I'm so very relieved ...... :) I don't yank teeth for a living but fix broken bones - orthopedic surgeon But I'm willing to bet he still uses hammers...

Hard pressed to find any other fly-in that mades such a list available to the world. Sorry I assure you that wont happen, Gary. I was thinking of privately sharing among the participants the contact info, IE email addresses only for the purpose of maybe rental car sharing, etc. Would this change your vote? (people know your going now anyway
fantom Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 Would this change your vote? (people know your going now anyway Yes, of course. MS people can keep a secret, can't they?
mike_elliott Posted December 9, 2013 Author Report Posted December 9, 2013 Yes, of course. MS people can keep a secret, can't they? I aint sayin' nuttin'.....
mikesalman Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 They can ransack my house, I will make sure not to feed the Doberman for a couple of days so he will be eager to welcome you in. Oh and he doesn't bark either. I guess I will save on dog food that week to pay for the avgas.
aaronk25 Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 Hi folks! I'd like to come down but understand it's full. It would be just me as the other 1/2 is busy and will continue to find things to be busy doing for the wedding end of Feb. I'd be glad to help chip in and pay. Mike I'll pm you to see if there are any openings, or if anyone has extra room is be appreciative! 1
mike_elliott Posted December 17, 2013 Author Report Posted December 17, 2013 I have you down, Aaron. You are on the standby list for one of Dr. Dubins condos if someone cancels, and I have you registered for the Summit, as we did have one person email me that his plane will be in the paint shop and he will have to cancel just yesterday. Thanks for the willingness to donate to help the Welcome Reception food and refreshment cause! See you in Feburary
Carl S Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 They can ransack my house, I will make sure not to feed the Doberman for a couple of days so he will be eager to welcome you in. Oh and he doesn't bark either. I guess I will save on dog food that week to pay for the avgas. Major thread creep warning: Having had nothing but Doberman Pinschers since 1990 I would comment that, in general, if you do not feed them for a day or two, they will welcome the first person into your house as a long lost friend and show them where the food is kept. (If they haven't figured out how to open it already.) Now, maybe you have a fully trained Schutzhund certified (or similar) dobie. If I had spent the time and $$$ to train one it would probably be going with me. By the way - what happens when a small girl gets into the dobies area? See attached... Apologies, but I love this breed and get a bit sensitive when their "Hollywood" side is mentioned. Back to the thread at hand. 1
TWinter Posted December 24, 2013 Report Posted December 24, 2013 Is this event so structured that there won't be much down time from the forums and flight reviews to do much impromptu visiting. We are all always looking for a place to fly and it would be great to zip down for the day and put a face with forum names and checkout planes. We have tossed around the thought of just flying down, shaking hands and meeting with some forum folks. Possibly book a room on our own wherever there was a vacancy just for an overnighter. Our schedule was just not firmed up enough this year to commit to much more than a quick flight down and back. If the summit schedule looks like it is pretty set in stone with little down time we will wait until Mooney Homecoming for some meet and greet. Just curious..and who knows, my schedule changes daily so it might be a wash for us anyway. Just wondering out-loud if the opportunity was even available?.

Parker_Woodruff Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013 Might be able to make a trip if you're still looking for a CFI. I could let you know by first or second week of January

The very nature of training requires structure, with seminars happening Saturday and Sunday mornings and flight training Saturday afternoon. The Welcome reception is full as are the seminars and flight training at this point, but we certainly welcome you to come Sat afternoon where there will be a lot of the Summit attendee's at the airport and other social activities with the non flying spouses and to join us later at Sharkey's for dinner Saturday evening. If you decide to join us for dinner, make sure you let Sharkey's know so they can add you to the group and have a seat for you beforehand. The whole concept is one of both training and social interaction. Some things like catering and seminar space require us to set limits on walk ins, however.

TWinter Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 Mike, Thanks for the reply. I would have loved to be able to attend the summit as intended and get some quality learning, however, we are in the process of pretty large business venture construction build and it will really be getting kicked-off right about the same time frame. That's why I considered just a day trip. I was really just inquiring if there was any down-time between the "training schedule", even just a half hour here and there..Not a big deal, just inquiring and thought I could meet some of the good MS folks. Sounds like the schedule is pretty tight. I guess we will be passing this time. Maybe next year, Good luck. Thanks for the reply. Tom
mike_elliott Posted December 26, 2013 Author Report Posted December 26, 2013 Thanks Tom, There will be lots of "down time" for those not participating in the flight training, as it is, we cannot possibly service all of the attendee's with flight training, there just are not enough of us for the time permitted. I personally wont have a bit of down time, but that goes with the territory. Let me take this opportunity to also announce Premiere Aircraft Sales has to become the sponsor for the Friday evening welcome reception! Thank you Cathy and Fred! Richard Simile will be in attendance, so if Tom, if your are serious about selling your E, take the opportunity to speak with Richard! He will get the job done! Additionally we have received nice door prizes from NavStrobe lighting of a Sextant 30W LED strobe nav light kit. These things are great! I have them on my plane and love them! Thanks Chris for the fantastic donation. EOF Corp (Exxon Elite) has donated 2 complete oil change kits, each kit consisting of a case of Exxon Elite 20W50, oil filter, oil test sample, and spout. In addition, each attendee will also be able enjoy a 10 percent discount on every purchase made in 2014 from www,Eliteetc.com Thank you Lisa for this wonderful donation. Sportys has donated a BFR DVD, Thank you Hal. Don Maxwell aviation services will donate a free corrosion X treatment with every attendee who has an annual done at Maxwell's. This is a $350 value from Don. Thank you Jan and Don. Paul Beck of Weep no More will probably attend and is working up a nice gift for each attendee who uses his resealing service. He did my tanks about 8 years ago, and I could not be happier with his work, support and price. Thanks Paul. He also sent me a box of cozies and pens to hand out. I have a couple of more "door prize" request I still hope to hear positively from. I want to personally and publicly thank those attendees that have donated so far to the event. You know who you are! Your generosity along with Premier Aircraft's donation is what will make the catering happen for all of us. I am still working on the "adult" beverage portion if someone else wants to step up and help with a few bucks here. (I do have a bartender! Thanks Fantom!) 1
Amelia Posted December 30, 2013 Report Posted December 30, 2013 Oh! I just found this, and I want to come! Do you suppose there is any room for one more Mooney driver? Please? I will be delighted to help with the party fund.
mike_elliott Posted January 13, 2014 Author Report Posted January 13, 2014 Thanks everyone for the great response to the Mooney Summit! We are at capacity and have a standby list for the event, and if all goes as planned, we will begin preparations for Next years event shortly after the conclusion of our first Mooney Summit! I want to thank all those that donated to make it possible, and to publicly thank Premier Aircraft Sales, Weep No More for their sponsorship roles and to let everyone know that Eliteetc.com has extended a 10 percent discount to us (use discount code MSI2014) for the entire year along with their door prizes of a couple oil change kits. Other fine door prizes were donated by NavStrobe lighting (the fantastic LED nav/strobe lights that have been discussed here at Mooneyspace), Innovative Products, who is donating a couple of the digital timing kits Paul Brown likes so much to really nail your engine's timing, Sportys and Don Maxwell. Catering by Bob will be doing our catering for Friday evening's reception. We have added a couple of additional Mooney specific instructors to help with the flight and seminar workload, along with a DPE to simulate a check ride Oral for the IPC's. Wings credit will be given for 6 of our seminars, and for flight activites that will enable attendee's to receive a flight review. Again, my thanks to everyone for making this a very special event.
rbridges Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Mike, thanks again for the time you guys have put into this event. I'm looking forward to it. 1
David Mazer Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Although I just found this and couldn't come even if it wasn't full, thanks to Mike and Ron for sponsoring this. If it continues, hopefully your timing and my schedule will come together in the future. 1
