aviatoreb Posted December 20, 2013 Report Posted December 20, 2013 Sigh, the engine to be ready for pickup @ engine shop Tuesday, Xmas Eve. Maybe you can get Santa to pick it up for you as a ferry-favor during his normal rounds that evening. I understand Norad tracks his flights so maybe you should start by contacting them? 1
N601RX Posted December 20, 2013 Report Posted December 20, 2013 I think his elves would be able to quickly fabricate a mounting bracket and fit it to the back of his sleigh. It would be the completely broken in when delivered to Bob. 1
Bob_Belville Posted December 20, 2013 Author Report Posted December 20, 2013 Fortunately the engine shop in Fitchburg is only 30 minute from Minuteman so the A&P who's doing the install can fetch it in his trusty pickup.

Hank Posted December 20, 2013 Report Posted December 20, 2013 Not as much fun, but certainly faster. Although broken in during delivery by sleigh would certainly make for an interesting logbook entry! ;-)
Bob_Belville Posted January 9, 2014 Author Report Posted January 9, 2014 Hey, hey, hey! Just talked to the engine shop... engine is on the test stand, looking good so far... expects to get it to the airport tomorrow! Tim says it will look like a fresh OH'd engine except for the fuel pump and servo on top. I think there's a light at the end of the tunnel! 4
kmyfm20s Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 Great news! I think though I would go ahead and replace your fuel pump. The pump is cheaper than the labor to replace it after the engine installed. Of course I don't know it could have been a resent pump before the prop strike.

Well, the A&P called from his truck... on his way to 6B6 with my engine! He'll start mounting baffles today and hang engine Monday. Sigh of relief. 1
Cruiser Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 Like having a baby, at least it doesn't take 9 months
Marauder Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 Ask for some pictures Bob. We like to see it go together!

Here's what daughter Sharon got this afternoon. Alan is started back, adding the baffling, mounting the engine mounts... looks like he'll hang the engine and check alignment tomorrow. O yeah, Nancy got her new knee this morning. She was a real trooper! We were at the hospital at 5:15 A.M. and she was in recovery by 8:30. Was up and sitting in a chair this evening for a little chicken soup.. Wow. 1
RocketAviator Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Looking good and glad to hear Nancy knee ordeal went well.... You must be living right 1
Marauder Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Thanks for the pictures Bob! Now I know where that relocated oil cooler goes! Sounds like Nancy will be up kicking your butt with that new knee pretty soon! Sent from my overpriced iPad using Tapatalk 1
fantom Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Congrats times two Hope Nancy's recuperation is as fast as your flight re-indoctrination. 1
Bob_Belville Posted January 18, 2014 Author Report Posted January 18, 2014 I would have to say... WE ARE GETTING CLOSE! 1
Marauder Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 Looking good! Soon vrooom, vroooom!! 1
Bob_Belville Posted January 24, 2014 Author Report Posted January 24, 2014 Test flights today by maintenance shop. I recall discussion here about maximum fuel flow on takeoff I'm recalling this 200 horsepower engine should get above 18 gallons per hour comments? Recent flights before prop strike were lower than that. Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk

mooniac15u Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 I can't wait to see where you attach that second prop. Is there an STC for that? 1
Bob_Belville Posted January 24, 2014 Author Report Posted January 24, 2014 B26, thanks, I was thinking someone here mentioned 18 Plus? Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
