  2. I've been to 15,000 many times in my F, even on hot days. It takes a while to get there. Service ceiling is around 18,000, I would guess that a J would do that also. A turbo would be nice, maybe some day. Ron
  3. I had to call AOA for mine, and the re-sent them to me.???
  4. I had 26 years and 1500 hrs on an overhaul with new blades. Hub may have been 47 years old with a total of approx 4500 hours on it. I was told that a mooney B model out of Corona was going to get my blades and a B hub. Ron
  5. Ask the prop shop for a credit for your prop as is. Mine did, they gave $1400.00 for the blades, the hub was an AD due hub. I went for the new Scimitar. Ron
  6. Before getting ADSB in to my Ipad, I have received weather on it at 10,000 ft in many parts of So Cal, and the valley and many other locations near big cities. I am running Wing X. Ron
  7. There are areas that you have no horizon departing VFR at night in So Cal. Corona AJO is one airport that you are dependent on homes that are lighted up to the side of the departure. 25 is pointed directly over a mostly dry lake. Ron
  8. I own my box hanger in Central CA. KMPI 42x36 $20,000.00 $64.00 a month ground lease, $250 a year property taxes. Fuel $4.35 3200 ft runway, approaches are decent. IFR is not practical, I can get in VFR easier than IFR. IFR minimums are about 2200 above the runway. This is not a busy airport, about 50 planes, 3 Mooney's though with 2 maintenance shops and a very professional flight school, run by a retired airline pilot. Solar electricity/batteries. Ron
  9. I am having my prop replaced now due to the AD. I want it entered into the airframe log and the engine also. This is for continuity in the books. I have a new prop book. I plan replace the engine in the next few years, hopefully a factory reman. I prefer that the entry says why also. This was not due to a prop strike. Ron
  10. Try Johnson and sons propellor in Shaffer ca. I just traded one in on a top prop. Ron
  11. Have you checked under baggage carpets for D rings? Do your rear seat belts stay when the seats are removed? How about where the seat bottoms and backs attach? Ron
  12. GB Did you ever design a new cowl to fuel injection boot for the E's and F's? Ron
  13. I have a very nice F. It is not for sale. The only real advantage to me of and F or a J over an E, is the fuel tanks (64 Gallons) and the higher Gross weight. My useful load is about 1025#'s. Normally there is only 1 or 2 persons in the plane for long cross country's. Sometimes the Grand kids were in it, but usually they were small then. When I have had 4 people in it, usually 2 adults, and 2 kids and 1/2 tanks. Easy. Ron
  14. I have the quadrant also. they are not all the same. Mine has the flap switch next to the mixture control. One hand on the quadrant and I can move all 4 controls, including the flaps with out my hand moving at all. I do not like a veneer on the throttle, it is difficult for small power changes on final. Ron
  15. My DC H10-30's are 10 years old and about 600 hrs on them. They are working great, I did replace the ear muffs with new ones from Oregon Aero. My stay in the plane 24/7. I am in a hanger though. I have the old ones as spares. I wonder if they would fit my year old headsets? Ron
  16. My a&p replaced mine last week. He said that the bolt has a hole in it, and then tighten against a washer or 2. I was at work when he did it. Hope this helps. Ron
  17. We took the factory tour at the MAPA Convention this year. It was very interesting. Mooney had staff to take us on the tour on a Saturday. Stacey Ellis was our tour guide. There is a lot that goes into building our planes. Mooney should give tours, as stated above, our money could go else where, maybe a Corvette etc. Ron
  18. My 69F has an airspeed switch. Was replaced last year by Lasarmod. Over $600.00. They also installed a bypass switch for me. This is a safety issue, get it fixed. At density altitude, you will not go fast enough to reach 120 with the gear down. Should be set for about 75 - 80 mph. Ron
  19. I have a fast F. If I takeoff before him on a 1hour trip, I will be landing behind him. Ron
  20. A good friend has a Comanche 250, I have been in it many times. It is a little wider than my F. The seats are not very comfortable, in front or back. Weights are very similar, and it could be a couple of knots faster, but the fuel burn to do it, no thanks. When we race, I want both planes at 10 gallons an hour, he says "no way". It was a great plane to move me around while mine was in annual, getting painted etc. Ron
  21. You temps are way to high. My heater will burn you out of the plane. I also can takeoff in the winter with cowl flaps closed when temps are in the 50's and cooler. I have a Lasarmod cowl closure and oil cooler relocation. Ron
  22. Thank You I am currently running an XPS 170 dual to feed the Ipad. Wing X. I am trying to get rid of the extra equipment solution. Trying to be cheap and not get the GTX345 solution, and get the most from purchasing a GTX 330 ES. I have a 430W for a position source. I would prefer to have Garmin equipment so that they play nice with each other. I have XM on the 496 also. Another major panel redo is not in the cards, for a 46 year old F. Anymore suggestions. Ron
  23. Will flight stream 210 stream ADS-B into my Ipad from and GTX 330 ES transponder? Ron
  24. Alan If it has an 8130 from Garmin I would like it. Ron 559 577-2398
  25. Amelia Planes are our love. We hate to damage them. But they can be fixed or replaced. The important part is that you and your passenger(s) are ok. Please let us know if they find out what happened. You and your Mooney will fly again, enjoy. Ron
