  1. Thank you for the quick reply. I appreciate it.
  2. Carusoam, I am curious about the list you mentioned here. Do you mind sharing contacts for North Florida and Louisiana please? Thank you in advance. Jay
  3. Im only 5'7". When I was in that E i turned around when i was sitting in the pilot seat all the way up and there really was plenty of room behind me.. im pretty short. I do like bug smashers idea..
  4. I appreciate all of this. I am considering $90k as in the initial investment in to the airplane. price per year is a whole different topic that is not a major concern to me, i have budgeted this on the extreme side. Like someone said before... We don't own an airplane because its a smart place to put your money, we do it because we want an airplane.. hehehe... I love all the info and input from everyone. I feel like the majority of you have helped me consider an E and fix her up the way I want it. I'm certainly excited and when I get her home ill snap some photos and keep you guys up to date. A again thanks guys for the input. I love mooney space.
  5. that J is perfect. I wouldnt need to do anything to it assuming a perfect PPI. Thanks!
  6. your'e selling your J? maybe it should be on my list on possible candidates to check out... ;-) your'e down in south florida thats worth a trip for me
  7. the E i have just located in TX has the long range tanks. 84 GAL... i just called this guy... I happen to be in TX right now I may run up and look at her.. just checked.. it flies alot which i like. It has all the essentials and a great starting point.. any negatives on this one? http://www.trade-a-plane.com/search?category_level1=Single+Engine+Piston&make=MOONEY&model=M20E+SUPER+21&listing_id=2243731&s-type=aircraft
  8. WOW Tom that E is unbelievable. More glass than a meth lab.. but she is awesome... I may be including some E's to look at on my next scouting mission.
  9. hmmm... see Hank this is where I should say NO! NO! but I like where you're going with this. whats a ballpark cost for the powerflo exhaust? pretty pricey? also- Do you ever wish you had more than a C model? Jay
  10. That is good advice for sure from both of you. The sad truth is that I know that I should hold off.... BUT IT'S NOT EASY! haha I hate flying commercial more now than ever before and have finally been able to justify (hehe in my mind) the purchase of a mooney. I will keep my eyes out for a good J model and most likely take that advice. I just found out I will finally have a T-hanger by Jan-Feb awaiting her arrival. I figure I will simply set asside "upgrade" money and take my time making her pretty. Thanks again guys
  11. I can't be the only one in the mooney market to have had such a hard decision to make. I have been looking at 3 J models in the past 12 months (which is what i really want)... but they all need something that is going to cost me a pretty penny... paint job, interior, ADSB-in/out...autopilot.. ect.. I went out last week with my buddy in new orleans in his E and I was very impressed with it. He keeps in super clean and loves it as you can tell by the pics but here is my question folks--- Do I spend 40K on a moderately used E and put 30k in it and just accept that the leg room is less and im a little slower? or do i wait my my unicorn(J model) that costs about double with what i want in her? it would take more time financially to get the J up to my liking, but i think i would be happier in the long run my mission is mostly me alone- sometimes 2 and rarely 3 or 4 people- maybe 2 times a year with 4. I will be flying a 400 mile leg 2 times a month. my budget is $90k max. no more than that. is a J worth that extra money to that extreme? will i regret buying an E or F in 5 years? I want this one to be my baby and keep her for a long time... before i saw this E and flew her I never even considered one... i wanted the leg room in the back and the obvious other advantages of a J. suggestions? Jay
  12. Im in the same boat in Florida, been on a wait list for a hanger up north in Jax for a while now... been searching everywhere for my perfect J and almost had her... didnt force it and now back to square one. At this point I hope i dont find my perfect Mooney until im moved in to my T shaped man cave
  13. good input- so i talked to the guys up at Herlong.. apparently the wait list for the bulk hangar is the same list that I am on. basically when that becomes available i can move to the bulk hangar and then from that point im waiting for a T-hangar. the Bulk hangar is $200/mo. Will they give you a hard time about keeping other things in your hangar like a small boat?
  14. I'm New to Mooney Space but have been reading a ton on here. You guys seem to know everyone in the Mooney world which is awesome. I am in the process of purchasing my first airplane- have chosen a really nice 77 M20J and prebuy in progress. I live in northern FL and am on a wait list for a T-hanger at Herlong (HEG) - so unfortunately I will have to tie her down outside for the time being. Curious if anyone knows someone at a jacksonville local area that has some room for me for the short term? Next question- I have been looking at lots for sale at Mount Royal air park (3FL0) just south of Palatka / Walatka area and am on the verge of pulling that trigger. I just sold a house earlier this year in the Putnam area north of there but wasnt too thrilled with the area on the west side of the river. I have read their bylaws at mount royal and know what I am up against- Anyone know the place well enough to give some insight on the locals, fly ins, or gerneral attitude? I make a lot of noise on football sundays and play music in my garage while wrenching on things... I dont want to be a black sheep right away... Ill be down there again on the 16th looking at a couple more lots. Thanks in advance! Jay
  15. looks fantastic! I'm curious- what was you change in weight if any? loose some or gain some? Great setup there!
