  1. I was flying today and noticed that the air coming out of the lower central vents (fed by the starboard side scoop, shares ducting with cabin heat) was warmer than the air coming in through the roof scoop ceiling vents. I knew that this vent line is shared with the cabin heat so I immediately suspected that the cabin heat was ever so slightly mixing in. I shut the cabin vent push actuator and confirmed that there was a very small amount of quite warm air coming from the same vent. Is this normal? Any thoughts on likely culprit? Just an issue with the baffle controls in the vent line or something more nefarious? Thanks in advance!
  2. Hello All - Quick question --> My 1967 M20F will only provide cabin heat when the cowl flap is closed. Problem is that on cold days (and nights) I still need to leave the cowl flap open (or at least trailing) to keep the the CHTs below 400 degs. I find myself switching between cowl flap closed so I can get some heat in the cabin to defrost the passengers or half-open to get the CHTs cooled off with the air vent closed to prevent the cold air from rushing in. I checked the SCAT tubes and don’t see any holes/ripes and I checked the movement of the lever in the heater box and it seems okay. With the cowl flap closed it cranks out the cabin heat just fine. Maybe that is just the way these old Mooney's are but it seems like a crazy design...I do have the 201 cowling mod installed on N811SS and there have been all manner of mods/changes done to this machine over the years. Does anyone else have the same issue?
  3. I have a 1968 F model and the cabin heat is always on at least a little. It does adjust with the control in the cabin, just never completely shuts off. It's nice in the winter, but it's getting a bit warm as the weather warms up! I'd like to know the right way to adjust it. I poked around in the engine compartment and I see where the heater control rod from the cabin moves a lever back and forth on a metal box connected to the firewall. It looks like there's a way to loosen the nut holding the rod to the lever, adjust it and retighten (cotter pin on there too). Is this the correct place to adjust that or do I need to open up something else? thanks!
