My mechanic says there is a bulletin on the ram air door and wants to know if I want to comply.  I can't find any such thing on the Mooney website.  Does anyone know what he's talking about?

There is a service instruction on the Mooney site that gives you the details needed to delete the ram air system on the J since it is of negligible value. I did it on my '77. Sent from my HTC Rezound using Tapatalk

i am wondering how that SI about the RAM air came up. Did you bring it up ?

if you did not, then i wonder how competent or knowledgeable your mechanic is. I am sure he must be a great guy !

I think he might refer to SB M20-250B (AD 95-26-16) "alternate air door retrofit". But this SB is old and your aircraft should be already retroffited with the "new" alternate air door system. Compliance with this SB is mandatory for continued airworthiness (the FAA released an AD).You can find this SB on the mooney website.
If its the one about removing the ram air door, and he brought it up for no other reason he is fishing for work.

I don't think there is a SB regarding the RAM Air (Except the SI mentionned above).

I went through the SB and SI list and I could not find anything pertaining to a "compliance" requirement. I know on my F model, I found and replaced a failing induction boot. He needs to specifically tell you what SB he is referring to.

I found it.  It's a Service Instruction back in, I think, 1992.  Heretofore I was familiar with the distinction between ADs and SBs, but wasn't aware of service instructions.

Thanks, everyone.
