For the last 15+ years, I've done my hangar insurance at my home through Falcon.

That agency has been rolled up into something called accusure insurance, and the quality of service has dropped significantly.

Most recently, my hangar insurance invoice came (payable to something called Wholesure Aviation LLC)  three days before due and sporting a 30% increase in premium for the same coverage.  I get it that roll-ups of agencies and their books of business are money-saving events for the roller, but the larger company is unable to deliver the same or better service at the same or better price.

Any recommendations on a better agent?

@Parker_Woodruff do you write hangar policies on private airstrips?

I switched from Falcon to Airspeed a number of years ago for the very same reason - decline in personalized service. For the first few years with Falcon I had great one-on-one service with one broker. Then I got a renewal reminder from someone else at Falcon, and it became difficult to get in touch directly with "my" broker. When I finally was able to talk to her we had a very pleasant conversation with me explaining that I was taking my business to Airspeed and why. She was empathetic and it seemed apparent she wasn't happy with the new process either. We parted on good terms.

Parker has been awesome to work with, and has been my advocate with the underwriters. He's provided actionable advice that has maximized my coverage while ensuring a fair premium for both my airplane and my hangar. I couldn't ask for more.

@Rick Junkin, i changed from Falcon to Airspeed for much the same reason. Parker has been great to work with, and is very competitive on pricing. Hes even goven me good advice on adjusting insured value.

I was with Falcon through USAA.

They were not able to get me a reason quote for my CAP-10.  And then @Parker_Woodruff was able to get me $1 million smooth on my Mooney for about the same as before.

This year, he got the CAP-10 smooth and a savings on the Mooney.   AND free non-owned coverage.  WOW.

When I bought my Mooney in '07, USAA just told me they didn't insure personal aircraft, so I stayed with the previous owner's local broker. Then I moved out of his area and went to Falcon.

Now I'm happily with Airspeed / @Parker_Woodruff

When I bought mine in 2022, I checked with USAA and they gave me a link and number to a group within Falcon that ONLY works with USAA customers.

USAA does the same thing with travel insurance.  They don't write it, but have a connection to Travel Insured.  Travel Insured has different plans and pricing for USAA customers.  But you have to access via a link from the USAA site.  And if you file a claim, you deal with a group within Travel Insured that only handles USAA customer claims.

I had basically good service from the USAA/Falcon group, but SUPERB service from Parker and Airspeed.

USAA referred us over to Falcon in 2005 for the hangar policy.  I insured my first Mooney with Falcon in 1996, back when founder John Allen owned it (and MAPA). It really is a pity to see this deteriorated state of customer service from a company that was formerly a pillar in the Mooney community.

I simply cannot imagine treating my customers to unannounced 30+ percent price increases and last-second renewals.  Oh, well… things change.

^^^+1000 for @Parker_Woodruff and his attention to customer service and timely responses, etc.  Just wrote a renewal with Parker yesterday and already referred a longtime pilot buddy to him who didn't know any better.  Way to go, Parker.

I switched to Parker this year finally after moving away from my local broker that got absorbed into a bigger entity and I lost my previous personal connection.  I hung around for a couple years past resolution of a hail claim, then switched.

I'm looking at a hangar purchase and got a rough idea from Parker already, but the seller said he was able to bundle it with his home & auto policy from State Farm for a very good rate.  That surprised me, but it is worth checking into.  I left State Farm many years ago after they did not in fact stand behind a shoddy repair on a car of mine, despite their lifetime guarantee.  I'll check with other insurers as I'm due to shop everything again soon.

I used to own a historic silver mine, which was basically a tunnel network in nine acres of hillside.   Keeping trespassers out was always a worry, especially since it was easy to get lost in there if you weren't familiar with the place.   Not surprisingly, we couldn't get insurance for it.   I also co-owned my grandmother's place with some siblings, and it wasn't very far from the mine.   My regular insurer and our insurer for my grandmother's place both said that it would be easy to add the mine to an existing policy for local property, but the owners, i.e., the insured, had to be the same for both places, which, unfortunately, it wasn't.   But if it's easy to add a mine to an existing policy, I'd think it'd be reasonable to add a hangar.   I'd definitely pursue that.

Silver miner?!, weather station operator, mechanic, pilot, electrical engineer- what has Eric J not dabbled in? They all sort of made sense until this.

Lol...it was where I grew up, and we spent our childhoods and younger years trespassing in the place.   It came up for sale after the 2008 real estate crash for pennies so we bought it.   I regret selling it.   It was a lot of fun to fiddle around with.

We did have occasional problems with trespassers getting through the gate at the adit so we put up a security camera.
