Rear seat headset connector

Looking for a little help. My 99 Bravo has these connectors in the rear seat armrests. I’ve looked all over and cannot find any information on what they are.

These aren’t LEMO. That connector is about 5/8” diameter.

I do have LEMOs up front.

If I remember correctly back in the day David Clark had a weird proprietary power plug for a short while before going to the lemo plug. That shouldn't be too hard to convert to a lemo jack - it should have all of the wires (power, ground and both L & R). (https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/bosexaccess8.php)

Those connectors on the Bose interface panel look pretty similar to the ones presented by the OP.  Or these

Possible but very unlikely since his airplane is a '99 Bravo - extremely unlikely that someone would go to the trouble of putting in a Series I bose interface in that airplane. Mooney included two Series II Bose interfaces (Lemo) and two Series II headsets when I bough a 1996 Bravo from them.

Also there's no volume switch which there would have been with the Series I (unless there's a broken-off stub there) and if I remember correctly that "Box" on the series 1 interface would never fit in the small space in that armrest . .. but maybe. The side notches on the jack do look like they match up - if that's the case then someone spent some money installing obsolete Bose I jacks in a 1999 airplane. Never underestimate how many dollars people will trip over in labor costs to save a few pennies in equipment.

That airplane (N2139K) was one of the very first Bravos or Ovations to have the rear seat bench option. Beautiful Color paint on that airplane also.

Thank you to all that responded.

I looked through the IPC and did see in the decals section a bunch of choices based on what options the plane build specified.

It’s clear that they need to come out at some point. I need to decide on LEMO or dual GA style.

If anyone knows of an adapter from this 9 pin… I’m all ears.

It’s pretty clear to me that these are 1st gen Bose plugs. When oriented and resized together it’s hard to see them as anything else.

The more I look at all of the pictures they do look like Gen I Bose - which is crazy considering they were put in long after Gen I Bose were available ..  but stranger things have happened. 




Taking out the two screws of that black plastic piece will show you that you have the above wiring. (I think only 6 of the nine pins are being used in that connector.) All it will take is some re-soldering to what would be easiest and make the most sense - Bose Lemo plugs.

I'm guessing if an avionics shop did it they could easily do it in an hour on each side, even though they would charge you for two.   The main problem is that it would be tough to get an avionics shop to take on a small job like this. An A & P or an accomplished hangar elf could tackle it as well. You might also take the plastic piece into a shop that does plastics/plexiglass and have them cut you new ones. 
Even if you currently have headsets with GA plugs, there is an adaptor from Lemo to GA plugs until you have Lemo headsets for all locations. Having 4 Lemo plugs/headsets is very nice in an airplane, you aren't fiddling with batteries all of the time. One less hassle to deal with.
