Glen Davis Posted October 13, 2023 Report Posted October 13, 2023 I recently bought a Mooney with a full Garmin panel. According to the previous owner, there is a FS 210 as well as a WX 500 storm scope mounted somewhere behind the panel and connected to my G3X. The log book entry is not legible due to water damage. How can I determine if there is an FS 210 and a storm scope installed? Quote

Also look for the NY-163 Stormscope antenna underneath or look in your equipment list in the POH. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted October 13, 2023 Report Posted October 13, 2023 Look for Flightstream device in your Bluetooth connections when avionics is powered up.Or just look for the circuit breaker(s). Quote
MIm20c Posted October 13, 2023 Report Posted October 13, 2023 I would call the shop that did the work and ask for a copy of the log entry or a list of services rendered/items installed. 1 Quote

As @MIm20c suggests, I would contact the shop that did the work on your panel, but I would also contact every person and/or shop that did any sort of work during the time period of the damaged pages in your log(s). Rebuilding those, while a lot of work, could have a big effect on resale value. N201MKTurbo Posted October 13, 2023 Report Posted October 13, 2023 I would get a copy of the 337 from the FAA if you don’t have it. It should have more detail than the logbook. 1 Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted October 13, 2023 Report Posted October 13, 2023 Another good reason to always submit a 337. There are always multiple copies, one stored at the FAA. And they don’t even charge you for storing them. Quote
jlunseth Posted October 13, 2023 Report Posted October 13, 2023 (edited) I don’t know much about the G3X but I have a GTN750. It has system screen that you can choose that shows what devices are attached. If you dive into that system you generally can see serial numbers and the Garmin identifier/password for that system. I have a Flightstream 210 and it shows up, but as someone mentioned, it should also show up in your Bluetooth screen in Settings on your iPad, and that menu item allows you to pair the iPad and the 210. When you are looking through menus, be aware that Garmin calls the attached devices LRUs, short for Line Replaceable Units. Edited October 13, 2023 by jlunseth Quote
